Fauci Lets His Lawyer Do The Talking After Aaron Rodgers’ Scathing ESPN Comments

Following his monotonous repetition of his Fifth Amendment rights during last month’s congressional testimony, Anthony Fauci has faced widespread backlash from lawmakers and the general public.

One such voice is longtime Fauci critic Aaron Rodgers, who set his sights on the controversial doctor during a recent interview.

As Fox News reported, Fauci’s attorney responded to the NFL veteran: 

Days after Fauci pleaded the Fifth 111 times during a Senate hearing on the advice of his attorneys, Aaron Rodgers could not help but rip the “absolute coward.”

“Are you kidding me? You get a pardon, and you’re and you pleaded over 100 times at the White House? What are you scared of, Tony? I thought you were the science. ‘I am science,’ and you get up there and can’t answer a question? What are we doing?” Rodgers said on “The Pat McAfee Show” earlier this week.

Well, David Schertler, Fauci’s attorney, was asked by The Athletic to respond to Rodgers’ criticism, and he did not hold back.

“Aaron Rodgers doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He should stick to football,” Schertler said to the outlet.

In the court of public opinion, however, Rodgers seemed to fare pretty well:

In a statement, the Steelers backed Rodgers’ right to free speech, while new Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy took to the mic to address the burgeoning controversy.

“My job is to keep it about football,” McCarthy, 62, said. “These are grown men. They all have different opinions. There’s no question about that. But at the end of the day, my job is to keep it about football, keep the focus on winning.”

He added, “That’s why we’re here. We have a good locker room. We have a player council that’s in place. We had our second meeting yesterday. We’re in a good spot.”
