HYPOCRISY: Bernie Sanders Caught Flying First-Class Amid DHS Shutdown

Millionaire socialist Bernie Sanders just left for a two-week Easter recess — on a first-class flight out of D.C.!

Keep in mind that this is amid a Democrat-caused DHS shutdown that has resulted in thousands of TSA agents going without pay.

No thanks to Democrats like Bernie, TSA agents are getting paid now after President Trump stepped in and signed an executive order.

However, employees at other agencies like FEMA and some Coast Guard members are still not getting paid.

Before leaving for Easter recess, the Senate did pass a half-hearted bill that funds the DHS — except for ICE and parts of Border Patrol.

The vote in the Senate was unanimous, but the bill would have to be approved by the House of Representatives.

Almost immediately after the bill passed the Senate, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson promised that it will not pass Congress.

Instead, the House will be voting on a full CR bill that would fund the entire DHS.

The U.S. Senator from Vermont left in style too, flying first class out of Reagan National Friday at 2:42 PM ET … which is significant, because that was just minutes after House Speaker Mike Johnson shot down the bill Sanders and the rest of the Senate passed at 2 AM Friday to pay TSA officers.

The House of Representatives is expected to vote late Friday on a new bill, but even if it passes … just about everyone in the Senate’s skipped town, so they won’t be able to vote on the new legislation.

As we reported, Sen. Marsha Blackburn hid behind her escort as she flew out Thursday evening, and Senate Leader John Thune bolted Friday morning … as did Sen. Ted Cruz.

Bottom line … they’re all in vacay mode — even though they didn’t do their jobs — and that’s why TMZ wants you to send us pics of any members of Congress you see chilling for the next 2 weeks, enjoying some R&R while thousands of government employees are going without paychecks, losing their homes, cars, and generally getting screwed.

As TMZ noted, Bernie wasn’t the only Senator taking advantage of airline perks while forcing Americans to go without pay.

Senate Leader John Thune was among those Senators who got to skip the TSA lines by being escorted through Ronald Regan Airport.
