Tucker Carlson is standing up for his good friend Joe Kent.
As previously reported by the WLT Report, Joe Kent, who served as the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, announced his resignation on Tuesday afternoon.
Kent, who is a former Green Beret and CIA paramilitary officer, in a shocking resignation letter, shared that he cannot, in good conscience, support the war in Iran and further claimed Israeli lobbyists are the ones behind the war.
In response to stepping down, Tucker Carlson praised Kent for his decision.
The Hill reported more on Tucker’s comments on Kent’s resignation:
Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson on Tuesday said that “neocons will now try to destroy” Joe Kent, who resigned earlier in the day from his role as the director of the National Counterterrorism Center in protest of the Trump administration’s conflict with Iran
Carlson praised Kent’s decision to resign, he told The New York Times in a brief interview. The outlet described the two men as close friends.
“Joe is the bravest man I know, and he can’t be dismissed as a nut,” Carlson said. “He’s leaving a job that gave him access to highest-level relevant intelligence. The neocons will now try to destroy him for that. He understands that and did it anyway.”
Kent wrote in his resignation letter to President Trump that although he supports “the values and the foreign policies that you campaigned on in 2016, 2020” and 2024, he disagreed with the president’s decision to launch the U.S. military offensive in Iran.
He argued in his letter that Israel drew the U.S. into the conflict with Iran, which was suggested in Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s explanation of how the conflict began before he later walked back that initial statement.
After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.
I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this… pic.twitter.com/prtu86DpEr

Axios reported Kent is set to be interviewed by Tucker:
Joe Kent, who led the National Counterterrorism Center and was a top aide to intelligence director Tulsi Gabbard, became the first senior Trump administration official to resign over the war in Iran.
Kent’s stinging rebuke — that Trump launched the war under pressure from Israel despite Iran posing “no imminent threat” to the U.S. — underscores the discomfort some in the “America First” camp feel about the war.
ADVERTISEMENTTrumpworld is now bracing for an expected Tucker Carlson interview of Kent, three sources inside and outside the administration told Axios. Carlson has been one of the most vocal right-wing critics of both the war and Israel.
Here’s Kent’s interview with Carlson in 2024:
Ep. 69 War with Iran? Yes. We’re already in it. Joe Kent did 11 combat tours in the U.S. Army. His wife Shannon was killed serving in Syria. Here’s his informed view of what that war will mean. pic.twitter.com/5yNCDc37Gb
