JUST IN: President Trump Hits Democrats With Unexpected Proposal in Shutdown Battle

Democrats did not see this coming…

As the battle over the government shutdown wages on, President Trump just made a very interesting move.

At the heart of Democrats’ refusal to re-open the government is an extension of Obamacare subsidies.

They want it tacked on to the government funding bill, but Republicans aren’t having it.

It’s a stalemate that has dragged on for nearly 40 days.

Well, now, President Trump appears to be taking negotiations into his own hands.

He is proposing taking the money that would fund Obamacare and giving it directly to the people, so that they can choose their own cheaper, better insurance provider.

On Saturday morning, President Trump posted on Truth Social:

I am recommending to Senate Republicans that the Hundreds of Billions of Dollars currently being sent to money sucking Insurance Companies in order to save the bad Healthcare provided by ObamaCare, BE SENT DIRECTLY TO THE PEOPLE SO THAT THEY CAN PURCHASE THEIR OWN, MUCH BETTER, HEALTHCARE, and have money left over. In other words, take from the BIG, BAD Insurance Companies, give it to the people, and terminate, per Dollar spent, the worst Healthcare anywhere in the World, ObamaCare. Unrelated, we must still terminate the Filibuster!

A few hours later, he posted again:

NO MORE MONEY, HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, TO THE DEMOCRAT SUPPORTED INSURANCE COMPANIES FOR REALLY BAD OBAMACARE. THE MONEY MUST NOW GO DIRECTLY TO THE PEOPLE, TAKING THE “FAT CAT” INSURANCE COMPANIES OUT OF THE CORRUPT SYSTEM OF HEALTHCARE. THE PEOPLE CAN BUY THEIR OWN, MUCH BETTER POLICY, FOR MUCH LESS MONEY, SAVING, FOR THEMSELVES, AN ABSOLUTE FORTUNE!!! PRESIDENT DJT

President Trump’s comments come as Senate Majority Leader John Thune has promised to stay open until they pass a deal to re-open the government.

The Senate once again reconvened on Saturday.

The Hill has more:

Senators will remain in session until they pass a deal to reopen the government, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) told reporters on Saturday, the 39th day of the shutdown. The GOP leader previously poured cold water on the president’s constant push for Republicans use the “nuclear option” and bypass the upper chamber’s filibuster rule, which requires 60 votes to pass legislation.

On Friday, Republicans swiftly shot down a Democratic proposal to extend enhanced health care subsidies for one year alongside a clean continuing resolution (CR). Thune said on Friday that senators need to get the text of a three-bill package of full-year spending bills, known as a “minibus,” nailed down, with the hope of voting on it over the weekend.

Senate Democrats rejected a proposal Thursday to reopen the government that would have included a stopgap funding bill and three full-year appropriations bills funding military construction, veterans’ affairs, the Department of Agriculture and the legislative branch.

The proposal was crafted by Sens. Gary Peters (D-Mich.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) and Angus King (I-Maine), giving Thune three of the eight Democratic votes needed to approve the House-passed CR and reopen the government.

Democrats have remained firm in arguing that Congress must extend Affordable Health Care (ACA) tax credits that will expire at the end of the year. Republicans, including Thune and Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), have said they will negotiate that when the government is open, leading to the prolonged stalemate.

Earlier on Saturday, Trump told Republicans to divert funds from insurance companies and directly pay consumers.

This is an incredibly genius move on the part of President Trump.

Now, Democrats have to either double down and back Big Insurance — the very companies they claim to be fighting against — or finally cave.

President Trump also recently posted a handy chart, showing just how much the stock prices for major health insurance companies have gone up since the start of Obamacare.

Obamacare is and always was a big scam.

Shortly after President Trump proposed this brilliant way to end it for good, Sen. Rick Scott jumped into action to make it happen.

He posted on X:

What do you think?

Would you support this?
