A steady stream of entertainers announced their decision to drop out of the lineup for a series of performances leading up to Independence Day.
Some cited threats while others complained that the event had supposedly taken on a partisan tone.
But one of the original artists is not only still proudly on the bill, he’s doubling down on his support for President Donald Trump and the Freedom 250 celebration.
As Fox News reported:
“I’m reinforced. I’m here. I am committed. Once you commit, you don’t quit, man. And that’s how I am,” the 58-year-old rapper and singer said.
“I was so honored, man, my mom is proud of me, everybody,” Vanilla Ice said of being asked to perform. “It’s such a cool thing to go celebrate your country and enjoy the birthday.”
“And the way the people are dragging this into politics, it’s not fair,” he continued. “It is not fair to us as entertainers for sure. And I think that this shouldn’t be looked at as political or anything.”
“I’m happy that Trump’s putting this on,” Vanilla Ice added. “I’m honored that he invited me. I’ve played for him many times. They’re great friends of mine.”
As with anything pertaining to Trump, the rapper’s comments sparked some social media discussion:
Making everything political is part of the left's plan of ending America. Keeping hate alive is their goal.

Here’s what he said in an earlier interview , per Variety:
“I don’t even vote, so I don’t even care,” the rapper in an interview with TMZ posted Friday. Vanilla Ice said that if former President Joe Biden called up asked him to perform, “I’d go play. It’s not a big thing. You play for your fans. You know, we don’t get a chance to pick our fans. They pick us. And I’ll go play for Putin and I’ll play in Iran if you want. It don’t matter.”
ADVERTISEMENTVanilla Ice is currently one of just two acts to have confirmed they were still performing at the Freedom 250 festival, alongside Fab Morvan of the 1980s duo Milli Vanilli.
Five of the nine acts originally announced by Freedom 250 have officially announced they were dropping out: Bret Michaels, Young MC, Morris Day, Martina McBride and the Commodores. Meanwhile, Freedom Williams of C&C Music Factory said he was considering potentially dropping out but that he was inclined to do the gig. So far, of the lineup of nine artists previously announced, only Flo Rida has not weighed in on the Freedom 250 festival.
Here’s what else he had to say recently:
Rapper Vanilla Ice responded to his hit song “Ice Ice Baby” being used to troll anti-ICE protesters and explained why he chose to remain part of the Freedom 250 concert series celebrating America’s 250th anniversary after other artists withdrew from the event. @BillSpadea… pic.twitter.com/aW3PlBN00E
