In yet another huge win for Republicans ahead of midterms, the Louisiana House has officially passed the state’s new, fair Congressional map.
The newly-drawn map would eliminate an unconstitutional, racially-gerrymandered district, likely giving Republicans an additional seat this November
It passed by an overwhelming majority of 66-35.
Now, the map heads to the Louisiana Senate before being sent to the governor’s desk for final approval.
Here are the details:
JUST IN: Louisiana House just APPROVED a new 2026 Congressional map that adds a Republican seat, making it 5R-1D
Louisiana SHOULD be going for 6R-0D as well. Keep the pressure on! 🔥
The updated map leaves one blue seat. IT can also be eliminated.
The new map requires Senate and governor approval before becoming law
Courts could also intervene and FORCE a 6R-0D map if the Callais plaintiffs push and win 👀
South Carolina redistricting is dead, but Republicans are still set to enter the midterms with nearly a DOZEN seat gains

This particular Louisiana map was at the center of a key Supreme Court case that ruled race-based districts unconstitutional last month.
WAFB reported:
SB 121 would redraw Louisiana’s congressional districts as part of an ongoing redistricting fight. A House committee previously adopted an amendment to the bill after the Senate passed a different version of the map.
The proposal follows a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that struck down Louisiana’s current congressional map. The court found lawmakers relied too heavily on race when they drew the 6th Congressional District.
The Senate-passed version of SB 121 would reduce Louisiana’s number of majority-Black congressional districts from two to one. Supporters have said the map is meant to strengthen Republican representation, while opponents have criticized it as a political power grab that could dilute Black voting power.
The bill would reshape the 6th Congressional District, currently represented by Democratic U.S. Rep. Cleo Fields, making it more favorable to Republicans. District 2, represented by Democratic U.S. Rep. Troy Carter, would remain the state’s majority-Black district.
While the new Louisiana map isn’t final yet, this is a solid step towards fixing the unfair districts that Democrats have imposed for years.
For far too long, Democrats have been cheating the American people by gerrymandering districts in their favor.
But, that all ends now.
Backed by President Trump, several red states have passed or are in the process of passing redistricting measures to make the maps fair again.
Just a few days ago, President Trump perfectly explained why this is so needed:
🚨 BREAKING: The Louisiana House has PASSED the state’s updated Congressional maps, REMOVING a Democrat district, making it 5R-1D
The vote was OVERWHELMINGLY in Republican favor at 66-35.
LFG! We’re ON TRACK to have this map implemented by the 2026 midterms! 🔥

So far, Republicans are on track to potentially gain ten House seats in the midterms.

REDISTRICTING UPDATE:
South Carolina has failed to pass a new map for 2026. This is a major missed opportunity to help lock in the Republican majority for the midterms.
It’s not over though. Alabama and Louisiana are still on the board, and each could flip a seat for the GOP, netting Republicans +10 additional House seats.
Finish the job!
Let’s go!
Get it done, Louisiana and Alabama!
