“It’s Coming”: President Trump’s Border Czar Promises Consequences for Sanctuary City Officials

Tom Homan started off as a Police Officer, and then joined the ranks of the Border Patrol back in the 80’s.

When President Obama (yes, you read that correctly) put Homan in charge of ICE’s enforcement and removal operations, it wasn’t because he was a political hack.

It was because Homan knew his job, and did it well.

When Obama later awarded Homan the Presidential Rank Award, it was because he had achieved ‘sustained extraordinary accomplishment’, as the award calls for, at his job — deporting illegals.

Isn’t it funny how the shifting political winds turn politicians against the very things they once espoused?

Tom Homan is good at DEPORTING illegal aliens, and he’s good at holding law breakers accountable; he always has been.

Now, Tom Homan has his sights set on the lofty prize of those so-called SANCTUARY CITIES, and the City Officials who are actively working against President Trump’s immigration and deportation policy.

And his warning to them is clear — arrests, felony charges, and prosecution is on the horizon.

Homan put it like this in an interview before reporters yesterday: ‘It’s coming.”

When asked by a reporter whether or not the federal laws against harboring illegal aliens would come in to play against City Officials in Sanctuary Cities who actively work against rounding up and deporting illegals, Homan didn’t miss a beat.

As one user on the X platform pointed out, there was no stutter or hesitation in Tom Homan’s answer.

Like President Trump, Tom Homan does not bluff.

Tom Homan is promising arrests and prosecutions of those who are CONTINUING TO DO SO at the city level.

I want the arrests and prosecutions we were promised, across the board.  But I’ll certainly celebrate Tom Homan bringing down the DANGEROUS REALITY of those Sanctuary Cities within the United States.

President Trump recently started increasingly talking about dropping the hammer on those Sanctuary Cities which are actively working against the Trump Administration’s efforts to deport illegals.

Last week he caused a stir by suggesting that federal funding could be withheld from cities who refuse to cooperate with ICE deportation operations, according to a report by CBS News:

In a Thursday morning post to his Truth Social account, Mr. Trump wrote, “No more Sanctuary Cities! They protect the Criminals, not the Victims. They are disgracing our Country, and are being mocked all over the World. Working on papers to withhold all Federal Funding for any City or State that allows these Death Traps to exist!!!”

Such a move would have a huge impact on public services in Chicago – services that help all Chicagons, not just migrants protected by sanctuary city policies.

City of Chicago data shows the city spent $46.3 million of federal grants last year on the mission to house and provide other services to migrants.

It’s not clear which programs would suffer the biggest monetary loss if Trump follows through on his threats, as some federal funding for Chicago is mandated by Congress.

Early in his second term, Trump turned his ire toward Chicago and other sanctuary cities. His pick for border czar, Tom Homan, warned Chicago in January that it would be “ground zero” for mass deportations once Trump took office. Homan warned the Trump administration would flood Chicago with ICE agents “looking for criminals and gang members.”

Chicago adopted its Welcoming City Ordinance decades ago. The ordinance prohibits Chicago police from cooperating with federal authorities in any immigration enforcement orders. The city is, however, required to help ICE whenever the agency presents a judicial criminal warrant for arrest.

The City Council recently blocked an effort by some of the council’s more conservative alders to water down the ordinance and allow CPD to work with federal immigration agencies in cases where undocumented immigrants have been arrested or convicted of certain crimes.

That City Council, and others, who are digging in deeper rather than choosing to cooperate with the Trump Administration’s deportation strategy are likely the very people in Tom Homan’s crosshairs at the moment.

They don’t have to take up the ICE agenda and deport people themselves; but they certainly must cooperate and divulge the information they know about illegals living in their cities when ICE comes knocking.

Those local laws and city ordinances that say otherwise are at the heart of this problem; and the local leaders creating those ordinances should expect a visit from ICE and the DOJ, according to Tom Homan, if they keep at it.

Watch that clip I posted earlier of Tom Homan responding to the possibility of arresting Officials in Sanctuary Cities, but pay close attention to the look on his face.

You’ll never convince me that he isn’t pleasantly surprised that the reporter hit so close to current discussions and plans with that question:

I am also convinced that when Tom Homan says, “It’s coming”, he means very soon.

My suspicion is that the operations aimed at Sanctuary Cities which will purportedly include a “flood” of agents, which the Trump Administration has been talking about more and more lately, will be the intentional catalyst to hold those City Officials accountable.

I believe that “flood” of arrests in Sanctuary Cities will create such a backlash from City Officials who stand in defiance against the Trump Administration that it will effectively cause those working against the Trump Administration to self-identify themselves.

Here’s more on the planned “flood” operations that Homan has described, according to a report from Bloomberg on Yahoo Finance:

President Donald Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, said federal agents are going to pour into sanctuary cities and increase enforcement operations at places of employment as the administration looks to ramp up its deportation push.

“We’re going to flood these sanctuary cities with federal agents. If we can’t arrest a bad guy in the jail, we’re going to arrest them on the street. We got to do it stronger. We got to do it faster,” Homan said on Fox News Wednesday. “If we can’t do it in the streets, then we’re going to we’re going to increase worksite enforcement operations in those sanctuary cities. We’re going to flood worksite enforcement operations.”

The president has long criticized sanctuary cities, which refer to jurisdictions with certain policies like allowing people who entered the US illegally to remain without fear of arrest because of their immigration status.

Trump — who has promised to execute the largest mass deportation of undocumented migrants in US history — has said he’s “working on papers to withhold all Federal Funding for any City or State that allows these Death Traps to exist!!!”

Historically, when President Trump starts focusing on a specific issue or problem, he’s telegraphing what he intends to do next.

But that’s not a bad thing, like it would be if a boxer did it in the ring.

It’s a good thing, particularly in this current political climate when those who hate him so much can’t help but respond with some unhinged outburst to anything he says.

If the plan is identifying those City Officials who are at the root of the Sanctuary City problem, then telegraphing their next move is the PERFECT catalyst to rooting out those individuals.

And if I’m right… within the next few weeks we will see ICE operations in Sanctuary Cities ramp up, with arrests and charges filed against City Officials who try to harbor or shield illegals in their cities from the Trump Administration.

As much as these Progressive City Officials like to moan and whine about the ‘unfairness’ of deporting illegals back to foreign shores, I don’t think those same Officials are willing to go to jail on their behalf.

But if Tom Homan has anything to say about it, they won’t have a choice, if they keep up the fight against a return to law and order in this country.
