Per Trib Live:
Hundreds of people gathered outside Sprankle’s Supermarket in Kittanning as former President Donald Trump stopped at the store on his way to a Monday evening rally at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Trump arrived around 5:50 p.m. and stayed for 20 minutes. Security was tight, and vehicles were repeatedly shuffled to obscure sight lines from behind barricades. Two snipers kept watch from atop a school bus parked by the front entrance.
Only about 50 people, including employees and media, were allowed in the supermarket.
It’s the first time a presidential candidate has visited Kittanning since Bill Clinton, according to several residents. John F. Kennedy also visited the borough, they said.
Robert Gill, 40, of Ford City came to the gathering with a bullhorn. He used it a few times, including an attempt to lead the crowd in a prayer for Trump’s protection, he said.
“These are dark times, ” he said, wearing a shirt depicting Trump after he was shot in the ear at a rally in Butler County.
Thousands of Trump supporters waited outside of the grocery store to greet Trump.
