On Sunday, we brought you a story about the Dalai Lama telling a little boy to “suck my tongue” in a viral social media video.
However, we noted that we were not able to independently verify the authenticity of the video.
In today’s world, it could potentially be a Deep Fake.
So, we were careful to make that clear in our original report.
In an update Monday, the video was confirmed as AUTHENTIC!

The Dalai Lama has apologized after a video emerged showing the spiritual leader kissing a child on the lips and then asking him to “suck my tongue” at an event in northern India.
In a statement Monday, the office for the Dalai Lama said he “wishes to apologize to the boy and his family, as well as his many friends across the world, for the hurt his words may have caused,” adding he “regrets” the incident.
“His Holiness often teases people he meets in an innocent and playful way, even in public and before cameras,” the statement said.
His apology comes after a video of the exchange, which took place during an event in the hillside city of Dharamshala in February, went viral on social media with many users criticizing the Dalai Lama’s actions.
In the video, the young boy can be seen approaching the Nobel Peace Prize winner before asking, “Can I hug you?”
The 87-year-old spiritual leader then invites the boy on stage and points to his cheek and says, “first here,” prompting the boy to give him a hug and a kiss.

A photo has emerged of the Tibetan spiritual leader with former Democrat Mayor of College Park, Maryland Patrick Wojahn.
The disgraced politician was arrested on over 50 counts of alleged child pornography, which included 40 counts of possession of child exploitative material and 16 counts of distribution of child exploitative material.
Authorities said Wojahn resigned from his post.
“I am stepping away to deal with my own mental health,” Wojahn stated in his resignation letter.

Prince George’s County Police Department issued this statement:
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Child and Vulnerable Adult Abuse – Internet Crimes Against Child Unit arrested a College Park man this morning for possession and distribution of child pornography. The suspect is 47-year-old Patrick Wojahn.
On February 17, 2023, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children notified the PGPD that a social media account operating in the county possessed and distributed suspected child pornography. The image and videos had been uploaded to the social media account in January of 2023. Through various investigative techniques, PGPD investigators discovered the social media account belonged to Wojahn.
On February 28, 2023, PGPD detectives served a search warrant at Wojahn’s College Park home. Investigators recovered multiple cell phones, a storage device, a tablet and a computer. Following additional investigation, PGPD obtained criminal charges against Wojahn and investigators took him into custody early this morning.
Wojahn is charged with 40 counts of possession of child exploitative material and 16 counts of distribution of child exploitative material. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
This remains an open and active investigation.
Wojahn had served as College Park mayor since 2015.
He was College Park’s first openly gay mayor and reportedly a regular White House guest.
