Father of Slain Six-Year-Old Boy Responds After Kentucky AGAIN Frees Child’s Murderer

The father of six-year-old Logan Tipton, who was stabbed to death in his own bed back in 2015, is speaking out after his child’s murderer was released from prison — again.

Last week, child killer Ronald Exantus walked free for the second time.

Exantus was originally released in October after serving an incredibly unjust, light sentence for murdering the young boy.

But, within two weeks after getting out of jail, he was sent back for failing to honor the terms of his release.

And now, he’s a free man again. On July 29, Kentucky let him out of jail again, with no parole or supervision requirements.

Local news outlet KBTX reported further on Exantus’ release:

Ronald Exantus was released from prison on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections. He is not required to be admitted to a hospital or mental facility and will walk as a free man.

“Pursuant to state laws passed by Kentucky’s General Assembly, Ronald Exantus has served the sentence issued by the Woodford Circuit Court and has been released. He is no longer in the custody of the Department of Corrections. The Kentucky Parole Board did not release Exantus, and he was not released early,” the department of corrections said in a statement.

Exantus was found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity in 2018 for the death of 6-year-old Logan Tipton and guilty but mentally ill on three counts for attacking Logan’s family members.

Officials said during a mental health episode, Exantus broke into Logan’s family home, where he stabbed the child to death and attacked Logan’s father and two sisters.

Exantus’ attorneys said he is genetically schizophrenic and is now being treated for it…

The 14th Judicial Circuit Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office commented on Exantus’ release, calling it “deeply disappointing and frustrating.”

Commonwealth’s Attorney Kelli Kearney said that her office “has taken every lawful and appropriate action available to keep the public safe from Mr. Exantus.”

Kearney said that Exantus’ maximum serve-out date was Nov. 24, 2035, but under Kentucky law he received nearly nine years of sentence credit that accelerated his release by completing certain programs.

Defense attorney Dan Carman said early release for those reasons is not uncommon.

“They get a GED. Certain classes would then entitle the person to credits. There are also discretionary sentencing credits, kind of like earned. For good behavior, you can get a certain number of days off per month of a sentence,” Carman said.

Kearney reiterated that her office did everything it could to keep Exantus off the streets but that his release is a matter governed by Kentucky law and administered by the department of corrections.

Dean Tipton, who previously admitted that he would kill Exantus if they ever crossed paths, is righteously fuming over this decision.

The father of Logan Tipton previously said he would kill Ronald Exantus if they ever crossed paths after Exantus broke into their home and killed his son.

Exantus was released early from prison in 2025 after serving just 10 years for stabbing Tipton in the head.

He had been found not guilty by “reason of insanity” in 2018.

Just 12 days after being released from prison, he was re-arrested in Florida for not registering as a convicted felon.

“Last year, this monster was released from jail due to Kentucky’s mandatory reentry supervision program. He reoffended, and got a pathetic 9 additional months. He is being released today despite the opportunity to hold him in a mental facility,” said Kentucky State Rep. TJ Roberts.

Dean Tipton is speaking out about Exantus’ release on Facebook.

“The judge and jury gave this monster a slap on the wrist while handing down a life sentence to my family,” he said.

“Trying really hard to not let this break me….Ive carried so much over the years since Logan going to be with our Lord. I have woke up everyday, put on my fake a** smile and have carried on with life and literally living through hell.”

“Today though im having a hard time trying to figure out how to go on with life. Knowing that this monster gets to walk free and live his life, while I lay in this bed and my baby boy is in the grave. This may be my breaking point.”
