President Trump Proposes America-First Solution For Next Time World Cup Comes To US

Although he has celebrated the opportunity to host the best soccer players on the planet during the FIFA World Cup, President Donald Trump says he doesn’t want America to have to share the global spotlight next time.

In recent remarks, he called on the organization to consider the U.S. as a host of the event in the future, but next time without the inclusion of the nation’s northern and southern neighbors.

As The Hill reported:

“You should choose the United States of America again. This time we will leave Canada and Mexico out,” the president said, directing his comment to FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

After this, the president said FIFA should “pick somebody else” to “take some of the anger, hatred and steam out of everyone.”

The sports federation has already selected its next host countries for the tournament, which is held every four years. The 2030 FIFA World Cup will be hosted jointly by six countries: Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

His stance on the matter attracted some social media attention. Watch the clip here:

Is Trump going to the World Cup final?

Yes, Leavitt confirmed it Thursday June 16, saying Trump will be at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. for the 3 p.m. ET kickoff. Argentina is playing for the chance to become the first back-to-back champion since Brazil in 1962, while Spain is looking for its second-ever World Cup title.

Will Trump present the World Cup trophy?

He will, and he will not do it alone. Infantino said in June that the two men would run the ceremony together.

“We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino said during an interview on Fox.
