Mick Jagger Takes A Swipe At Other Artists Who ‘Lecture’ Fans About President Trump

Since his first campaign more than a decade ago, we’ve seen countless entertainers use their platforms to bash President Donald Trump, and even their own fans who support him.

But there remain many artists who believe their role is to provide an escape, not a lecture.

One such example is Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, who addressed the issue in a recent interview.

As Breitbart reported:

Jagger, 82, delivered his opinion on a New York Times podcast last week when Timescorrespondent David Marchese noted that the Born in the USA singer feels that he needs to impose his politics on his audience at every concert.

Marchese claimed that Springsteen “clearly sees his job as engaging in a meaningful back and forth” with his audience. That is a curious way to frame Springsteen’s haranguing of his audience from the stage. In fact, there is little “back” from the audience. With Springsteen, as its all “forth” from the stage.

Marchese then asked Jagger how he felt about all that.

Jagger, though, was completely dismissive of Springsteen’s need to bully his fans.

“The bottom line of my thing, really, is that my job in the live music world is [for] those people that come is to have the best time they possibly can,” Jagger said.

“For two hours or whatever it is, to forget all their problems and the problems of the world and their mortgages and whatever, just to give them the best time they can have,” Jagger continued.

Jagger's been around the block enough times to know how that sort of thing plays out. He's witnessed first hand what happens when musicians lose themselves in political messaging. Good on him for not stepping in it.

Springsteen is not engaging in a meaningful back and forth, he's engaging in lies and propaganda.

Meanwhile, here’s how the self-important Springsteen sees himself, per AOL:

“I believe in critical patriotism,” the rocker said in “Bruce Springsteen: Finding America in Song.”

He added, “I believe that’s the definition of a patriot, you know, that you love your country so much that you are willing to look at it clearly, recognize its faults, encourage it to be a better place, and believe that you carry in your heart the country that is waiting.”

The “Born in the U.S.A” rocker has blasted Trump publicly for years, calling him “mentally ill.” He said during his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024 that the president is an “insurrectionist” for his role in the riot at the Capitol on Jan 6, 2021, and described him as “the most dangerous candidate for president in my lifetime.”
