Nancy Pelosi’s husband has been charged in a hit-and-run crash after his convertible allegedly crashed into a parked car in Napa County.
He allegedly drove away from the scene.
Napa County Sheriff’s deputies confronted Paul Pelosi about the incident yesterday.
He acknowledged hitting something but said he was unaware of what he had struck.
The case has been forwarded to the district attorney’s office for formal review.
A referral form requesting a re-evaluation of Pelosi’s driving privileges will also be submitted to the California DMV.
Alcohol did not play a factor in this crash, law enforcement says.
ADVERTISEMENTIn 2022, Pelosi was involved in another car crash—his blood alcohol content was 0.082%.
Now, police are saying alcohol did not play a factor in the crash.
But apparently, Paul Pelosi hit the parked car so hard that his own car stopped working due to the severe damage caused.
Police tracked him down and found him broken down, partially blocking a roadway.
The New York Post has more on the incident:
Napa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a hit-and-run on the 6700 block of Yount Street in Yountville, on July 3 around 2:30 p.m., according to a press release.
A witness who called 911 pointed officials in the direction of a northbound vehicle seen colliding with the rear of a parked car on the shoulder, causing major damage. The collision also pushed the parked car’s right tire up onto the curb.
The witness said the vehicle briefly stopped and then drove away.
ADVERTISEMENTAfter police tracked Pelosi down, the 86-year-old admitted to hitting something but said he wasn’t aware what he struck. He then continued driving until his vehicle, disabled from the crash, stopped working.
Police found Pelosi partially blocking the roadway in his brown convertible on Yountville Cross Road. The car had significant damage to the front right side of the vehicle.
Cops determined that alcohol was not a factor in Pelosi’s crash. Pelosi took a preliminary alcohol screening test, and it showed a blood alcohol level of 0.00.
Paul Pelosi was not arrested by police on the spot.
But, his case has been escalated to the Napa County District Attorney’s office.
From NBC News:
The Napa County Sheriff’s Office is referring the case to the Napa District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.
This is the second car crash incident involving Pelosi in Napa County. In 2022, Pelosi pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five days in jail for driving under the influence.
He was also the victim in a physical attack at his home in 2024, when a man assaulted him with a hammer. That man, David DePape, was later sentenced to 30 years in prison.
