Ahead Of Nation’s 250th Anniversary, Joy Behar Says ‘We All Should Be’ Embarrassed To Be American

If any American is looking for another reason to be a little extra proud of the country this Independence Day, consider doing it to spite “The View” co-host Joy Behar.

She recently went off on yet another anti-America tirade aimed at President Donald Trump, this time complaining that there’s too much celebration going on in D.C.

According to Breitbart:

During a recent episode of ABC’s The View, Behar played a clip of Larry David calling last week’s UFC White House event “a travesty” and adding that he is “embarrassed to be an American” — to which the co-host reacted by saying that she agrees with the comedian.

Later in the article:

“I mean, my family came over here, like, 100 years ago,” Behar continued, before going on a convoluted rant about Italian-Americans.

“The Italians came here, you know, Italian-Americans are some of the most patriotic people in the country, and one of the reasons is because they came from poverty in southern Italy, and came here, and they were like, ‘America, God bless America,’ you know?” she said, mimicking Italian immigrants by putting on a fake accent.

“And now, he treats immigrants the way he treats them,” Behar bizarrely added.

“And of course Larry is embarrassed to be an American,” the The View co-host asserted, before declaring, “In that way, we should all be.”

Alyssa Farah Griffin, for her part, commented that she is “very, very proud to be an American,” adding that she has been “taking in the 250th anniversary celebration mostly by enjoying the World Cup.”

The segment fueled significant social media discussion:

Even when one co-host attempted to chime in with a relatively pro-America take, yet another was quick to bat it down:

Here’s more on Larry David’s remarks, per HuffPost:

Megyn Kelly took aim at Larry David this week after the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator and star declared he was “embarrassed to be an American” following President Donald Trump’s UFC spectacle at the White House.

The former Fox News host put David on blast on her SiriusXM radio show this week, saying she wished he “would stop with the political, over-the-top stuff.”

“There’s no question Larry lives in either Beverly Hills or Bel Air and is living it up big,” she said in a conversation with venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya. “And [he] looked at these guys, and had absolutely nothing that he could relate to on this more of a working-class American sport, turned his nose up at it and walked away saying: ‘I’m embarrassed to be associated with them.’”

Kelly was referencing comments David made in a Variety interview while attending the premiere of his new HBO series, “Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America.”
