Second Ransom Note Reveals Grim Twist in Nancy Guthrie Case

It’s been quite awhile since we got an update in the Nancy Guthrie disappearance case, and investigators still have no idea where she is.

But, today, the contents of one of the alleged ransom notes was finally revealed.

Up until now, we knew that media outlets received two ransom notes from Guthrie’s apparent kidnappers that the FBI believes to be valid.

As previously reported, the first ransom note asked for money but promised the family that Nancy was safe.

Now, in a grim twist, we have learned that the second ransom note indicated that Guthrie was dead.

Here’s what’s being reported:

The second note that was sent to media outlets in connection to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance said the mother of “Today” anchor Savannah Guthrie was dead.

The Guthrie family received two notes shortly after Nancy’s disappearance. The first demanded a cryptocurrency ransom for Nancy’s safe return, and the contents of the second were not revealed until now. ABC News reports that the second message said Nancy died shortly after she was abducted and was buried somewhere in nature.

At this time, the actual contents of these ransom notes have not been released.

This new information originated from an Air Mail report, which claimed that the second ransom note “apologized” for Nancy Guthrie’s death.

If true, this implies that Guthrie died accidentally — perhaps from not receiving her heart medication in time.

The New York Post summed up that report:

One of the chilling ransom notes sent to Nancy Guthrie’s heartbroken family included a disturbing apology for accidentally killing her, according to a dramatic new report.

The disturbing Feb. 6 email was sent to TMZ from the same IP address as earlier blackmail letters that were packed with eerie details about the night Guthrie — mother of “Today” host Savannah Guthrie — was snatched from her Arizona home, including what she was wearing, sources close to the case told Air Mail.

The purported abductor had initially demanded $4 million in bitcoin in a Feb. 2 note, described Guthrie as “safe but scared,” and spelled out terms for an exchange — convincing investigators they were dealing with the real kidnappers rather than sick internet pranksters.

However, a follow-up note on Feb. 6 opened with a bizarre, rambling “apology” for her accidental death, the outlet claimed.

It then suggested the 84-year-old kidnap victim’s body could be returned for a price, though no specific amount was given, the outlet’s sources said.

However, after this report started circulating, TMZ was quick to dispute it.

As you may recall, TMZ was sent the ransom letters after Nancy Guthrie went missing.

But, contrary to earlier reporting, TMZ says that neither of the letters contained an apology. Rather, the second letter suggested that Guthrie is dead, without going into specifics.

Similarly, News Nation reporter Brian Entin confirmed:

This latest update on the Nancy Guthrie case is raising more questions than answers…

But, that’s kind of been the trend with this whole investigation.

What do you think?

Will we ever learn the truth about what happened to Nancy Guthrie?
