Buckle Up: Sean Penn To Direct Hollywood Version Of Jan. 6 With Big Name In Talks To Star

We’ve already seen how unhinged leftists celebrities can become on the topic of President Donald Trump.

Those outbursts become even shriller when the issue of the Capitol Hill protests of Jan. 6, 2021 are involved.

That’s why Americans are already bracing for what far-left entertainer Sean Penn has in store for his upcoming project.

As The Hill reported:

Following his Oscar-winning performance in “One Battle After Another,” Penn will direct the as-yet untitled film from his own script. Bradley Cooper is in talks to star, though no deal has been finalized.

Representatives for Penn and Warner Bros. didn’t comment Tuesday on the movie’s protagonist but said he’s based on a real person.

When Penn attended the 2022 hearings of the House Select Committee investigating the deadly attack on the Capitol, he sat between Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police officers Michael Fanone and Daniel Hodges, both of whom responded to the attacks.

Fanone testified that he rushed to the scene and was “grabbed, beaten, tased, all while being called a traitor to my country.” The assault, which stopped only when he said he had children, caused him to have a heart attack. Hodges also testified about his harrowing experience.

The announcement was widely panned on social media:

Here’s what Variety added:

To that end, insiders insist the film is not really about Jan. 6 and is only tangentially related to the attacks. Despite that spin, it’s unclear how this project will play with David Ellison and the team at Paramount who are poised to buy Warner Bros. Discovery now that the Justice Department has cleared their merger. Ellison has made a point of highlighting his family’s ties to Donald Trump, hosting a dinner for the president and members of his administration in April and showing up at the UFC fight that was held at the White House last weekend. That event, which was held on Trump’s 80th birthday, was broadcast on Paramount+, Ellison’s streaming service. Penn, who has called Trump “an enemy of mankind,” is of a different political persuasion.
