BUSTED: D.C. Police Officials Placed on Leave After Getting Caught Manipulating Crime Data

Thirteen Metropolitan Police Department officials in Washington, D.C. have been just been caught intentionally manipulating crime numbers.

Specifically, they pressured officers to skew data to make it look like crime was lower than it really was before President Trump’s federal crackdown.

All of these officials are now facing potential termination and have been placed on administrative leave.

This clip from Fox News dove deeper:

WOW! MULTIPLE high ranking DC police officials are set to be TERMINATED for manipulating crime data, pretending vioIent crime was dropping DRAMATICALLY prior to President Trump’s takeover

These people should lose their taxpayer funded retirements.

Multiple DC police officers I’ve spoken with are VERY happy with this move

For example, in some districts, armed home invasions were written down as “trespassing” instead — a vioIent felony dropped to a low-level misdemeanor, just to cook the crime stats.

D.C. Interim Chief Jeffrey Carroll announced the news during a press conference:

The D.C. Police Union also released a statement confirming that several corrupt officials have been served termination papers:

Washington, D.C. — The DC Police Union, representing 3,000 active officers of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), today welcomes the Metropolitan Police Department’s decision to serve termination papers to multiple high-ranking command staff officials. These actions, tied directly to the department’s completed Internal Affairs investigation into the deliberate manipulation of crime data, mark a long-overdue step toward justice and the restoration of integrity within MPD.
In our December 15, 2025 press release, the DC Police Union stood alone in condemning the systemic pattern of crime data manipulation under former Chief Pamela Smith. We exposed how command staff pressured patrol commanders to downgrade serious violent and property felonies, Assaults with a Dangerous Weapon (ADW), Robberies, Burglaries, and Motor Vehicle Thefts, to fabricate the illusion of falling crime rates while actual crime surged. We cited the damning findings from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia (USAO-DC) and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which confirmed that internal National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) data reported to the FBI showed a 1.72% increase in violent crime for 2024, directly contradicting the D.C. government’s fabricated 28.32% decrease.
We warned that this toxic culture of coercion, fear, and corruption left thousands of cases uninvestigated, denied victims justice, gaslit residents, and endangered public safety. Forensic teams were not dispatched, evidence went uncollected, detectives were never notified, and dangerous criminals walked free. All while the public was fed falsified Daily Crime Report (DCR) numbers.
Today, the department is finally acting on those truths. Multiple top officials implicated in the scandal are now facing termination for their roles in the manipulation scheme. It should not have taken threats from Congress to complete this necessary investigation and deliver accountability.

As you may remember, former D.C. police chief Pamela Smith resigned last year after the scandal was first flagged by the police union.

NBC Washington shared some names of officials implicated in the scheme:

At least three Metropolitan Police Department officials who were under investigation for allegedly manipulating crime statistics were issued termination papers by the internal affairs office, law enforcement sources tell News4.

Two of the officials are commanders, sources said; another is a captain.

Pulliam was placed on leave with pay and denied the allegations.

Pulliam was told on Monday that he would be terminated, News4 confirmed.

2nd District Cmdr. Tatjana Savoy also was told she would be terminated, source said.

Multiple other officials were told they would be fired or receive other forms of discipline.

Word of the termination notices spread as a number of high-level officials did not show up to a crime briefing early Monday, sources said.

Interim Chief of Police Jeffery Carroll declined to comment, citing an internal matter. U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro also said she could not comment.

Two federal reports in late 2025 criticized D.C.’s police chief at the time, Pamela Smith, and questioned the accuracy of the District’s crime data.

Just, wow.

Of course, this is something that many people have been suspecting for quite awhile.

But still, it’s stunning how many top-ranking police officials were involved!

Here are some of photos of a few of the officials who have been placed on leave over this:

According to our reports, MPD Commanders Michael Pulliam, Tatjana Savoy, and Assistant Chief LaShay Makal are amongst those reportedly facing termination.

Current interim police chief Jeffery Carroll has also abolished the Office of Patrol Operations, which was headed by Assistant Chief Andre Wright— currently on administrative leave for a separate texting scandal.

The Office of Patrol Operations had been established by former police chief Pamela Smith, who resigned from office in December of 2025 after facing backlash for skewing crime numbers in Washington DC.

If it’s happening in D.C., you can bet it’s happening in other major cities.

Take a look at some of these responses:

We need nationwide investigations into crime stats. And, everyone involved with cooking the books needs to be held accountable.

Some folks are calling for prison time:

What do you think?

Should police officials who manipulate crime statistics go to jail?
