Pop superstar Sabrina Carpenter has cultivated an image that resonates across much of today’s feminist movement. But the left is always willing to eat its own.
When Carpenter stopped a recent concert to call out a disruptive audience member’s apparent yodeling, video of the encounter soon began to circulate and drew sharp backlash from some on the far left.
Here’s what the Daily Caller reported:
“I think I heard someone yodel,” Carpenter says, drawing laughter. The audience member ululates again.
ADVERTISEMENT“Is that what you’re doing?” Carpenter asks, as the person continues to ululate. “I don’t like it,” she declares, smiling.
“It’s my culture,” the audience member shouts.
“That’s your culture, is yodeling?” Carpenter asks, appearing confused.
The person adds that it’s a form of “celebration.”
“Is this Burning Man, what’s going on? This is weird,” says Carpenter.
It might seem like an innocent interjection in an otherwise normal concert, but when cancel-culture warriors learned what the noise actually was, they were quick to denounce Carpenter as a bigot:
sabrina saying that she doesn’t like a cultural arabic cheer… this is so insensitive and islamophobic. i am very disappointed in her. pic.twitter.com/wzFd7jBK0d

A reader note added to the above comment asserted that the cheer “has nothing to do with Islam.”
TMZ also reported on the incident and backlash, noting that not all of the response has been negative:
Some are defending Carpenter … claiming the person making the noise did it at an inopportune time — but many are still blasting Carpenter for making a mockery of the noise anyway.
ADVERTISEMENTThe rest of her set — which featured big stars like Will Ferrell, Sam Elliott, Susan Sarandonand more — went off without a hitch … but, this moment’s going to stick with the star for a little while at least. We’ve reached out to Carpenter for comment … so far, no word back.
The singer ultimately did respond to the criticism, dutifully posting an apology to social media:
my apologies i didn’t see this person with my eyes and couldn’t hear clearly. my reaction was pure confusion, sarcasm and not ill intended. could have handled it better! now i know what a Zaghrouta is!
I welcome all cheers and yodels from here on out https://t.co/f3KuT8sggH— Sabrina Carpenter (@SabrinaAnnLynn) April 11, 2026
Not everyone was satisfied, though, and even the account behind the original post later chimed in to call off the wave of online hate directed at Carpenter:
guys she apologized, stop sending hate ❤️
