President Trump Says Vice President JD Vance Was “Philosophically Different Than Me” On The Iran War

President Trump, while addressing reporters in Doral, Florida, revealed that he and JD Vance have different philosophical thoughts on the war in Iran.

A reporter asked Trump on Monday, Are there any disagreements between you and your Vice President on the war in Iran.

Trump insisted that there were no disagreements, but they did think philosophically differently about it.

The Associated Press provided further details on Trump’s comments:

President Donald Trump said his vice president, JD Vance, was “philosophically a little bit different than me” at the outset of the war in Iran even as he dismissed the notion of a disagreement between the two.

Speaking to reporters on Monday at his golf club in Doral, Florida, the president said Vance was “maybe less enthusiastic about going” but insisted that his decision to launch airstrikes in Iran alongside Israel was necessary.

“I felt it was something we had to do,” Trump said. “I didn’t feel we had a choice.”

Heading into a challenging election year, the war in Iran has stoked tension among Republicans, with some expressing reservations about how the operation fits into the “America First,” isolationist-leaning movement the party has embraced during the Trump era.

Few have embodied that movement as prominently as Vance, who over the course of a decade rose from an author to U.S. senator and ultimately vice president. He’s now considered a top contender for the Republican presidential nomination in 2028, giving him the opportunity to carry Trump’s movement into the future.

Last month, during a private dinner at Mar-a-Lago with 25 GOP donors, Trump asked the group who they preferred in the 2028 presidential race: Vance or Rubio.

Mediaite reported the crowd overwhelmingly roared for Rubio:

A group of about 25 GOP donors expressed their strong preference for Secretary of State Marco Rubio over Vice President JD Vance in the 2028 GOP presidential primary during a February 28 get together at Mar-a-Lago, according to a revealing new NBC News story.

“In the early hours of Feb. 28, President Donald Trump and his administration joined Israel in launching a wave of strikes on Iran that would reverberate across the Middle East. That night, he was schmoozing at Mar-a-Lago with some of his top administration officials and political donors, with a pressing question: Marco or JD?” reported NBC.

After the president posed his question to the crowd, those present “overwhelmingly indicated Secretary of State Marco Rubio through their cheering, according to two people who were at the event.”

“It was almost unanimous for Marco,” said one attendee.

“Yeah, that’s right. It was clear, at least that night,” said another.
