HUGE: President Trump Appoints Special Envoy in Major Move to Acquire Greenland

President Trump is renewing his pursuit to acquire Greenland.

In fact, he says that we have to have it for national security reasons.

And, recently, he took a big step towards making that goal a concrete reality.

While speaking to reporters from Mar-a-lago on Monday, President Trump announced that he is appointing Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry as special envoy to Greenland.

On Sunday, President Trump also announced Gov. Landry’s new role in a post on Truth Social:

🚨 JUST IN: President Trump appoints Louisiana Governor JEFF LANDRY as special envoy to GREENLAND

“Jeff understands how essential Greenland is to our National Security, and will strongly advance our Country’s Interests for the Safety, Security, and Survival of our Allies, and indeed, the World. Congratulations Jeff!”

In response, Gov. Landry thanked President Trump for the huge opportunity:

Appointing a sitting governor as special envoy is an interesting choice.

But, Gov. Landry knows his stuff and, according to President Trump, volunteered to lead the charge.

Earlier today, Landry appeared on Fox News to discuss exactly why it’s so important that we acquire Greenland.

Watch what he had to say in this clip:

Makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it?

But, so far, Denmark isn’t too thrilled about this new appointment.

The Danish foreign minister called it “completely unacceptable.”

Denmark’s government has responded to President Trump’s naming of Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry (R) as the new special envoy to Greenland.

It isn’t happy.

“President Trump’s announcement about the appointment of a special envoy to Greenland – and in particular its statements about the purpose hereby – is completely unacceptable,” Danish foreign minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said Monday in a Facebook post, which was translated by the social platform.

“That’s why we are now convening the US ambassador to the Department of State for a discussion.”

On Monday, Danish officials also released a statement responding to the appointment of Landry as special envoy to Greenland.

AP News reported:

Trump’s announcement of Landry’s appointment has once again stirred anxiety in Denmark and Europe.

Denmark’s foreign minister told Danish broadcasters that he would summon the U.S. ambassador to his ministry.

”We have said it before. Now, we say it again. National borders and the sovereignty of states are rooted in international law,” Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and her Greenlandic counterpart, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, said in a joint statement Monday. “They are fundamental principles. You cannot annex another country. Not even with an argument about international security.”

Trump called repeatedly for U.S. jurisdiction over Greenland during his presidential transition and in the early months of his second term. In March, Vice President JD Vance visited a remote U.S. military base in Greenland and accused Denmark of under-investing there.

We’ll see what happens.

But, consider President Trump’s track record…
