FBI Has Obtained “High Quality” Video Of The Suspected Shooter Who Assassinated Charlie Kirk

The suspect behind the tragic assassination of TPUSA Founder Charlie Kirk is still at large.

Initially, the FBI detained two persons of interest for questioning, but later released them after they had no connection to the shooting.

Now  Utah Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason and FBI officials have revealed that authorities have obtained a “high-quality” video of the suspected shooter.

CNBC reported more details on the announcement of the video:

Utah Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason said, “We do have good video footage of this individual.”

But “we are not going to release that at this time,” unless authorities fail to identify the shooter on their own, he said.

While officers at the press conference declined to offer specific details about the suspect, Mason said the gunman “blended in well with the college” and “appears to be of college age.”

Mason said that the shooter arrived on campus shortly before noon local time, then climbed up to a rooftop overlooking the location of Kirk’s event. After the shooting, the suspect moved to the other side of the building, then jumped off and fled into an off-campus neighborhood, he said.

The presser at the university on Thursday morning came after officials released two people of interest several who had been detained shortly after the shooting.

“There are no current ties to the shooting with either of these individuals,” the Utah Department of Public Safety said in an update late Wednesday.

“There is an ongoing investigation and manhunt for the shooter,” the agency said.

The gunman fired at Kirk from a campus building 200 yards away from where the activist was speaking, hitting him once in the neck, according to UVU.

The Hill provided the latest update in the investigation:

Authorities have recovered what is believed to be the rifle used Wednesday to shoot and kill conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, according to the FBI.
“This morning, I can tell you that we have recovered what we believe is the weapon … that was used in yesterday’s shooting. [It] is a high-powered bolt-action rifle,” Robert Bohls, the FBI special agent in charge, said during a press conference early Thursday. “That rifle was recovered in a wooded area where the shooter had fled.”

He added that the FBI will be “analyzing this weapon.”
“Investigators have also collected footwear impression, a palm print and forearm imprints for analysis,” Bohls told reporters.

Officials added that they have good footage of the suspect but have no plans to publish it at this time. They believe the suspect to be of college age. As of Thursday morning, a search is still underway for the shooter.

“We are confident in our abilities to track that individual,” Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason said. “If we’re unsuccessful in identifying them, immediately, we will reach out for the public’s help and the media’s help in pushing those those photos.”
The FBI also said the route the shooter took from arriving to campus at 11:52 a.m. local time to fleeing into a nearby neighborhood has been tracked.
