A gunman opened fire inside the skyscraper that houses the investment firm Blackstone and the NFL headquarters.
NYPD has reported that a man wearing a bulletproof vest and wielding an assault rifle opened fire inside the building that houses the NFL and Blackstone headquarters.
Initial reports have revealed three people were shot, including a police officer.
The gunman reportedly committed suicide by a self-inflicted gunshot wound after he barricaded himself on the 33rd floor of the building.
The New York Post had these details to report on the shooting:
A crazed gunman wearing a bulletproof vest opened fire inside a swanky Midtown skyscraper that houses Blackstone and NFL headquarters Monday, injuring three people, including a cop — before turning the gun on himself, sources said.
At least one police officer was shot at the scene and is in critical condition. Two civilians were also struck by gunfire — one of which is also in critical condition, sources said.
A 21-year-old man was shot in the torso and buttocks and the second victim, 22, was blasted in the armpit and shoulder when bullets flew around 6 a.m. on Brush Avenue near Schley Avenue in Throggs Neck, just outside Ferry Point Park, police said.
The suspect barricaded himself inside and was found dead from a gun-inflicted gunshot wound on the 33rd floor, sources said.
A witness on the first floor said that “it sounded like a barrage of shots …Like an automatic weapon. Like a high-capacity weapon.”
The injured officer was working in the building on a paid detail, sources said.
