The Gateway Pundit shared more details on Trump’s interview, reflecting on surviving an assassination attempt:
President Donald Trump has revealed that he still has pain in his ear and credits God for his survival as the one-year anniversary of the assassination attempt approaches.
Trump reflected on the July 13, 2024, shooting in an interview with Fox News host Will Cain.
The interview was conducted as Trump toured the flood wreckage in Texas.
Cain began, “Mr. President, you have children, you have a daughter, you have grandchildren. We’re approaching one year from you having a very narrow escape from death. Do you think all of this in any way gives you a unique perspective on what’s happening here and what people are experiencing here in Texas?”
“Well, I went through a lot. It was a crazy time, very surreal, actually, if you want to know the truth,” Trump responded.
The president continued, “It’s — I have got this massive crowd of people, and all of a sudden you hear and you feel something that’s very unusual. And I got down quickly. And I was — people were screaming, get down, get down. It was a whole — the whole thing was just crazy. And it’s hard to believe a year is up.”
“People that are shooters — I’m not so much of a shooter, but people that were shooters say it’s almost impossible that that was a miss,” Trump said. “I mean, it was a hit, but it was a miss. Well, I do get that throbbing feeling every once in a while, you understand.”
The family of Corey Comperatore is also reflecting on the tragic event a year later and is demanding answers from the Secret Service on why they failed in Butler.

The New York Post reported more on what the wife of Corey Comperatore thinks about the Secret Service’s handling of security during the rally:
Helen Comperatore, the widow of Corey Comperatore, who was shot and killed at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, by a bullet intended for President Trump last July, has no love lost for the Secret Service.
“I think the Secret Service is garbage,” she told The Post. “All I’ve wanted this entire time was to sit down with the men who screwed up that day and find out why. Why? Why at that rally? Why at that one in Butler?” she asked incredulously.
“Why that day? Why Butler? Why were you such a mess in Butler? Were you told to be a mess? Were you told by someone not to do your job? You do your job every other time, why that day?”
The agency’s response to the July 13, 2024, assassination attempt drew widespread condemnation from both sides of the aisle, ultimately resulting in then-director Kimberly Cheatle stepping down from her post in disgrace.
On Thursday, nearly a year to the day after the botched security operation, six agents working the rally were suspended from duty.
