Jase Robertson Shares ‘Blunt Truth’ About ‘Duck Dynasty’ Patriarch’s Health: ‘It Hasn’t Been Good’

The Robertson family rose to prominence with the popularity of the reality series “Duck Dynasty.”

Since then, various members, including 78-year-old patriarch Phil Robertson, have gone on to pursue projects related to faith and conservative values.

Recently, however, he has been battling Alzheimer’s disease and other health issues. His son Jase recently provided an update and didn’t sugarcoat the situation.

As the Daily Mail reported:

‘Tell you the truth, it hasn’t been good,’ Jase, 55, said of Phil, 78, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

When fans ask about how his parents are doing, the avid outdoorsman said he isn’t mincing words.

‘I’m just giving the blunt truth. I’ll say, “Not good,'” he explained.

Jase said he and his sibling were making Phil and their mom Kay, 77, ‘comfortable and we’re doing the best we can. So I think that’s just what you do.’

In the same episode, Jase revealed that the family were afraid they would lose Kay, who is recovering from a dangerous infection after a fall.

‘For my mom, it’s been a lot better this past week, because she was really not doing good,’  he told listeners.

Fans have been offering their thoughts and prayers via social media in recent months:

And here’s another clip of Jase sharing a story about his father:

As the Christian Post reported on December:

“Phil’s not doing well. We were trying to figure out the diagnosis, but according to the doctors, they are sure that he has some sort of blood disease causing all kinds of problems,” Jase said.

He added, “And he has early stages of Alzheimer’s. So, if you put those things together, he’s just not doing well. … We’ve got a team of doctors, and then we have another set of doctors who are looking at all the tests, and they’re all in agreement that there’s no curing what he has.”

Despite his diagnosis, Jase said his father is hoping to return to hosting the podcast: “I’m like, ‘Well Phil, you can barely walk around without crying out in pain, and your memory is not what it once was,’” said Jase. “He’s like, ‘Tell me about it.’”

Here’s a trailer for “The Blind,” a biopic about Phil and Kay Robertson:
