Yesterday, the mayor of Montreal was in the middle of a press conference on live TV when, out of the blue, she lost consciousness and sunk to the floor.
In the video, Mayor Valerie Plante is giving a speech when she abruptly stops talking. After about 9 seconds, she unexpectedly collapses!
Staff rush to her side, and she can be heard saying, in French, “Oh no. I feel unwell.”

A tweet posted on Valerie Plante’s account called it a “dizzy spell” and says the mayor is now “out of danger.”

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante is “doing well” but will reduce the pace of her activities over the next few days after collapsing during a press conference at City Hall on Tuesday morning.
Plante was answering a question about homelessness in the city when she suddenly stopped talking for several seconds before sinking to the floor.
She was conscious when she dropped down.
Plante was quickly surrounded by her staff, who asked reporters to stop filming.
An ambulance was called to City Hall, but Plante was not transported to hospital.

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante will reduce her workload over the coming days after collapsing to the floor during a morning news conference at a municipal building on Tuesday.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Plante said she was examined by a medical team and is doing well.
As a preventive measure, Plante wrote, she will “slow the rhythm of her activities over the coming days” and will miss Tuesday’s Ville-Marie borough council meeting.
