UPDATE: Suspected Kentucky Bank Shooter Identified

Police in Louisville, Kentucky announced a deadly shooting on Monday morning.

According to earlier reports, five individuals were confirmed dead, including the gunman—eight others sustained injuries.

It’s believed the suspect was an employee or former employee of the bank, but WLTReport wasn’t able to confirm that information earlier Monday.

DEVELOPING: Deadly Shooting Occurs At Kentucky Bank

According to the latest reports, the suspected shooter has been identified as 23-year-old Connor Sturgeon, an employee at Old National Bank.

Sturgeon is accused of walking into the Old National Bank in downtown Louisville armed with a rifle and opening fire inside the bank.

Police said the gunman shot and killed four people, while injuring eight others before dying in a shootout with police.

Louisville Metro Police Interim Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel said Sturgeon livestreamed some of the shooting on Instagram.

Heavy reported:

Sturgeon was live-streaming video on Instagram at the time of the shooting, police said at a press conference. The video and the account belonging to Sturgeon were taken down by Instagram. It was not immediately clear how long the live video was being streamed on Instagram and whether any clips were posted elsewhere online.

Police said he was 23 years old and a bank employee. He is also dead, according to police. The victims killed in the shooting have been identified as Joshua Barrick, 40; Thomas Elliott, 63; Juliana Farmer, 45; and James Tutt, 64. Louisville Metro Police Officer Nicholas Wilt was wounded and is in critical condition, police said. The four slain victims all worked at Old National Bank along with the shooter, according to their LinkedIn profiles. The wounded victims other than the officers also worked at the bank, police said.

According to Conner Sturgeon's LinkedIn profile, he was a Syndications Associate and Portfolio Banker with Old National Bank in Louisville.

Sturgeon's profile included He/Him pronouns and said he worked full-time at Old National Bank from April 2022 to the present.

Sturgeon interned at Old National Bank for three consecutive summers and obtained his Masters of Science at the University of Alabama in 2020.

Sturgeon allegedly texted a friend before the shooting, saying he was feeling suicidal and "would shoot up the bank."

He also allegedly wrote on his social media before the shooting: "They won't listen to words or protests. Let's see if they hear this."

Sturgeon's now-deleted Instagram account allegedly contained several ominous stories before the shooting.

Police said they're still investigating a motive for the shooting.
