While earlier reports indicated that President Donald Trump’s eventual library complex would house a new Air Force One jet given to the U.S. by Qatar, his son provided an updated plan and some relevant details this week.
Instead of the new aircraft, Eric Trump said a more meaningful retired jet his father used during both terms in office would be placed at the presidential library and museum.
As The Hill reported:
Eric Trump told NBC News in a text message that it’s “not the plan at the moment for Miami” to display the Boeing 747-8 as the new Air Force One. He similarly told the Palm Beach Post last month that an older, retired Air Force One jet will go on display “in the base of that.”
ADVERTISEMENT“Obviously, they’re retiring two Air Force ones now, the 2900 and the 29100z. The 2900 will be at the base of that building,” he told the outlet. “There’s tremendous history between everything [my father] did first term and now second term, and all the state visits.”
Eric Trump then said in the interview that the library complex skyscraper is being built “around a 747.”
“I’m sure wings will have to come off in order to just sneak it in there, but we’ll make it happen … that’ll be fun,” he told the Post.
Eric Trump referred to the Boeing 707 Air Force One housed in the massive pavilion at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., as an example of housing a retired Air Force One jet at a library complex in speaking with both outlets.

“No final decision has been made yet” about the future of the new Air Force One jet donated by Qatar following President Donald Trump’s second term, a White House official told ABC News.
Trump has pledged for more a year that the new Air Force One, a Boeing 747-8 that was given to the president in a controversial move, would be transferred to his presidential library after his term concluded.
Sources familiar with the proposed arrangement have previously told ABC News that ownership of the plane will be transferred shortly before Trump leaves office to the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation.
Questions about the president’s plans for the plane remain — including whether Trump would keep it for personal use, if he would leave it for the next president as part of the Air Force One fleet, or if there are other plans in store.
