The latter half of the 2020s are shaping up to be a correction of the far-left social lurch ushered in by the Biden regime.
While LGBT causes are still front-and-center in many circles, the broader pressure to adhere to extreme views has relented during President Donald Trump’s second term.
One example of the trend can be found in Michigan, where a physician assistant fired about five years ago over her religious objections to her employer’s transgender policies has won a hard-fought battle against the hospital.
As Fox News reported:
Valerie Kloosterman sued University of Michigan Health-West after she was terminated in August 2021.
“All I wanted to do was provide the best care possible to my patients without being forced to violate my Christian beliefs,” Kloosterman said in a statement shared with Fox News Digital.
First Liberty Institute, which represents Kloosterman, said she had received positive performance reviews throughout her employment before raising faith-based objections to mandatory gender identity training.
The organization told Fox News Digital Kloosterman was fired three weeks after requesting a religious accommodation from finishing a mandatory training that required her to affirm statements about gender identity that were in violation of her Christian faith.
According to First Liberty Institute, UMHW made no effort to accommodate her beliefs. She sued in October 2022.
The development fueled some social media discussion:
I wish she would come to central and western Kansas. We would welcome her with open arms. We need great strong doctors.

The settlement doesn't just include the $410,000 payout. UMHW must now implement a religious accommodation policy that complies with the law, inform and train all employees on it, and provide reasonable religious accommodations without retaliation to those who request them.

EWTN News provided some other examples:
In 2025 the University of Louisville agreed to pay a former professor nearly $1.6 million after it demoted him and refused to renew his contract following off-campus expert testimony in which he spoke about the dangers of performing transgender operations on children.
The same year, United Airlines reached a settlement with a flight attendant who alleged that the airline fired him over expressing support for Catholic teachings on marriage and gender identity.
In 2022, meanwhile, a professor at Shawnee State University received $400,000 after he faced disciplinary action for refusing to use transgender pronouns for a student who identified as the opposite sex.
Here’s a look back at the case:
