Secret Service Agent Placed On Leave After Allegedly Leaking Details About VP JD Vance To The Press

This is very concerning.

A Secret Service agent has been placed on leave after allegedly leaking details about Vice President JD Vance to the press.

According to a new report by CNN, the Secret Secret agent is reportedly the agent behind a previous hit piece by MS NOW that claimed Secret Service agents were fed up with JD Vance organizing last minute family trips.

Mediaite reported more on the Secret Service agent’s alleged breach of duty:

A Secret Service agent on Vice President JD Vance’s security detail has been placed on administrative leave after being suspected of leaking to the press, CNN reported on Wednesday night.

The agent has been placed under review, a source familiar with the matter told CNN. Another source said the administration believes the agent was a source for a July 15 MS NOW story titled “Vance’s security detail ‘fed up’ with hastily arranged personal and family travel requests.”

On Thursday last week, Secret Service agents groused among themselves as they prepared to deliver another perk to Vice President JD Vance’s family: join a military helicopter crew to fly his young son to his golf lesson.

The planned trip on Marine Two, the call-sign for the U.S. Marine Corps helicopter that carries the vice president, was canceled at the last minute due to severe thunderstorms and high winds in the Washington, D.C., area that day, according to two people with knowledge of the flight plans. Vance planned to travel with his son on the flight to Joint Base Andrews — which includes a secure, world-class golf center — according to two other administration officials with knowledge of his schedule.

Agents have shared concerns internally about Vance and his office pressing them for trips and assignments that some agents consider an inappropriate or even unprecedented use of government resources compared to prior vice presidents, they said.

The CNN report said the review of the agent is being conducted by the Secret Service’s internal affairs office, and that it is “unclear if any possible administrative punishment or criminal charges could be forthcoming.”

This isn’t the first time a Secret Service agent assigned to JD Vance has been placed on leave.

In January, agent Tomas A. Escotto was placed on leave after being caught on camera leaking sensitive details of his duties to an undercover journalist.

The Secret Service has placed an agent on administrative leave after an undercover video showed him discussing sensitive parts of his duties, NewsNation’s Kevin Bohn reported Tuesday.

The Secret Service also suspended the agent’s security clearance, who served on Vice President Vance’s detail and has worked for the law enforcement agency for five years.

The video published Tuesday by the O’Keefe Media Group — helmed by conservative activist James O’Keefe — shows the agent telling a woman about sensitive information related to Vance’s security measures and travel plans. The outlet identified the agent as Tomas A. Escotto, while the Secret Service declined to confirm his identity to NewsNation, citing privacy requirements.

“The U.S. Secret Service has no tolerance for any behavior that could potentially compromise the safety, privacy or trust of our protectees. This incident is under investigation and the employee involved has been placed on administrative leave with his clearance suspended and access to agency facilities and systems revoked,” Deputy Secret Service Director Matthew Quinn said in a statement to NewsNation.

Quinn added that the agency has issued an order for all personnel to “retake the agency’s required anti-espionage training in order to ensure employees are aware of the threats posed by individuals aiming to exploit agency employees for information” about Secret Service operations.
