Ashley Webb Was Booted From Ballot In Race To Replace Platner. Here’s Who’s Still Running.

A string of troubling and strange scandals for ex-candidate Graham Platner brought the U.S. Senate race in Maine some national attention.

Americans remained interested when a pair of debates introduced them to an array of Democrats vying to replace him on the ballot.

Trans candidate Ashley Webb soon went viral on social media for some unusual responses during the forum and other unearthed remarks.

But according to this update from Breitbart:

At one point, the Maine Democrat Party’s website provided a host of potential candidates, but now, only two show up on the list.

“The filing period for prospective candidates closed at 11:59 p.m. ET on July 20, 2026, after which the Maine Democratic Party verified each candidate’s submitted signatures and eligibility,” the website reads, listing only Saundra Pelletier and Troy Jackson. When one searches for Ashley Webb or others, the names do not show up.

“The following candidates have met the qualifications to participate in the Maine Democratic Party’s U.S. Senate Nominating Convention,” it makes clear, listing only Jackson and Pelletier.

In order to qualify, candidates had to be a registered voter in Maine, “file a written Declaration of Intent to Seek the Democratic Nomination with the Chair of the Maine Democratic Party; and Submit at least 500 valid nominating signatures from individuals who were registered Democratic voters in Maine as of the June 9, 2026 Democratic Primary,” per Maine Democrats.

Webb, however, was a candidate and even participated in a debate, going viral after he was asked to list his qualifications to run for the office.

The comment came as Webb was telling a bizarre story about how his birth records got "destroyed."

Meanwhile, the frontrunner in the race to replace Platner is facing his own controversy, per WABI:

National media outlets continue to take an interest in the U.S. Senate race in Maine. Published articles this week reported about U.S. Senate candidate Troy Jackson having angry outbursts when he was the Maine Senate President.

Both CNN and the Washington Post report Jackson threw a water bottle during a meeting inside the Maine State Capitol five years ago. A female lawmaker said she was frightened because she thought Jackson was aiming the water bottle at her after he became disgruntled with her. That same lawmaker allegedly decided to not run for reelection because of that incident.

Jackson’s campaign told CNN he was not aiming the water bottle at anyone when he threw it. An eyewitness said the bottle did not hit anybody. WABI did reach out to the Jackson campaign for comment and have not heard back.
