As you have probably heard by now, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham passed away unexpectedly on Saturday evening.
The 71-year-old reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest and died shortly afterwards.
In a post on X, FBI Director Kash Patel paid tribute to the late senator. Notably, in this post, he also announced that the agency is involved with investigating his death.
Read what Director Patel had to say here:
Senator Lindsey Graham was a devoted public servant, a fierce defender of our nation, and a true patriot who dedicated his life to the people of South Carolina and the United States.

Senator Lindsey Graham was a devoted public servant, a fierce defender of our nation, and a true patriot who dedicated his life to the people of South Carolina and the United States.
Our prayers are with his family, loved ones, colleagues, and all those who knew him during this devastating time.
The FBI is assisting local authorities and has made every necessary resource available.
Now, this is not to say that there was any foul play involved with Sen. Lindsey Graham’s death.
His passing was sad and sudden. But, by all appearances, he died of natural causes.
CNN noted:
But according to four law enforcement sources who spoke with CNN, investigators have no indication presently that Graham died from unnatural or nefarious causes. One of the sources said local police are conducting a normal review after someone dies, and the FBI has just offered their resources if necessary.
That said, you still have to ask: how many other cardiac arrests does the FBI investigate?
There’s also the fact that Lindsey Graham has just returned home from a trip to Ukraine when he suddenly died.
Independent provided more details on the circumstances surrounding the longtime senator’s death:
Graham, who served as a senator in South Carolina since 2003, returned to Washington, D.C. on Friday after meeting with Zelensky in Ukraine.
A video posted by Zelensky shows the two men discussing the Ukrainian leader’s recent meeting with President Donald Trump. On Friday, Graham also announced that he was able to meet an agreement with the White House on a bill to sanction Russia.
A day later, emergency responders were called to his home on Capitol Hill, with 911 dispatch audio revealed they responded to a “cardiac arrest” around 8:30 p.m.
Officials radioed that a 911 caller — an unidentified woman who said she was not home — told dispatchers the door was unlocked. However, EMS at the scene reported the deadbolt was secured and that they knocked on the door “repeatedly,” but no one answered. DC firefighters then forced entry into the home, audio of the call revealed.
About 25 minutes later, EMS said that CPR was in process and that a man at the home was suffering from cardiac arrest. The dispatch calls did not mention Graham by name, but referred to a 73-year-old patient. Graham had just turned 71 on Thursday.
A staffer in the senator’s office told NBC News that there was no indication that the lawmaker was feeling unwell before his death.
His office did not provide any additional details about his death, but his family said in a statement that it “appreciates prayers at this time” and asked for privacy.

President Trump also says he spoke with Sen. Graham on the phone just hours before he passed away on Saturday evening.
Interestingly, Graham’s final words to President Trump were that the SAVE America Act was “all set” in the Senate.
We covered the details of that phone call further here:

Time will tell if there is anything more than meets the eye with regards to the death of Sen. Lindsey Graham.
DC_Draino on X made an excellent point:
In all likelihood, Lindsey Graham died of natural causes for a man over 70.

In all likelihood, Lindsey Graham died of natural causes for a man over 70.
Heart attacks happen. A lot.
But he just got back from a Ukrainian drone factory talking about new Russian sanction, he wanted as much war as possible in Iran, and he told Trump Voter ID was ready to pass yesterday.
This man had no shortage of enemies, foreign and domestic.
Plus he was a big fan of the Covid vaccine.
ADVERTISEMENTHis death should be fully investigated.
