RFK Jr., Dr. Oz Promote Simple Pledge They Say Will Help Make Hospitals ‘Places Of Healing’ Again

The ‘Make America Healthy Again’ Movement has already seen significant results across the food industry, with several big-name companies pledging to remove certain ingredients and additives from their products.

Now, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is teaming up with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz to call on hospitals to make what could be a much more impactful pledge.

They highlighted the campaign in a social media video, as Breitbart reported:

“Today, we’re launching the Make Hospital Food Healthier Pledge and calling on hospitals across America to join us,” Kennedy said. “Hospitals should be places of healing, that includes the food they serve. Patients deserve meals made with real nutritious ingredients that support recovery, not highly processed foods that contribute to the chronic disease crisis.”

Under the pledge, hospitals will commit to limiting the amount of “ultra-processed food and sugar-sweetened beverages” served, according to a press release from HHS.

Instead of deep-frying foods, hospitals will also bake, broil, roast, grill, or stir-fry the food served to patients, and will also “limit processed meats and foods high in added sugars, sodium, and artificial additives.”

Hospitals will also commit to prioritizing serving “minimally processed proteins, including plant-based options.”

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced on Wednesday a new “Make Hospital Food Healthier Pledge,” a voluntary agreement for hospitals and healthcare systems to bring their meal offerings in line with the 2025-2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, the administration’s main tool to advance MAHA food policy.

Kennedy, in a press release, called on hospitals to “lead by example by serving nutritious, minimally processed meals that help patients heal, reduce chronic disease, and help Make America Healthy Again.”
