Two RINO Senators DERAIL Vote to Advance Key Trump Nominee — President Trump Responds

The RINO revenge tour is well underway.

Thanks to two outgoing Republican Senators, a key vote to advance Todd Blanche’s confirmation for Attorney General has been delayed.

Sen. John Cornyn and Sen. Thom Tillis are both refusing to back Blanche until the DOJ submits, in writing, an agreement that the proposed $1.8 billion weaponization fund will be scrapped.

Blanche has already promised not to move forward with plans for the weaponization fund, but Cornyn and Tillis say that just having his word is not enough.

On Tuesday, Sen. Cornyn posted this on X:

Then, on Wednesday, CNN reporter Manu Raju spoke with Sen. Cornyn about his demands.

Later that evening, it was announced that the Senate Judiciary Committee was forced to postpone the vote.

Originally, the Committee was scheduled to vote on Todd Blanche’s nomination on Thursday morning.

Now, it may not happen until after the Senate returns from its upcoming 5-week August recess.

The Senate Judiciary Committee has abandoned plans to advance Todd Blanche’s nomination as attorney general Thursday, a significant speed bump that will make it difficult for Republicans to confirm him before the chamber begins its August recess next week.

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) held firm Wednesday in his demand that Blanche revise a controversial settlement agreement between President Donald Trump and the IRS.

Cornyn, who was defeated for renomination earlier this year by a Trump-backed primary challenger, was explicit on the legal language he needed from Blanche — even providing the Justice Department with a revision to the agreement that would address his concerns — but an agreement could not be reached in time to have the Thursday morning vote.

“We actually sent them a red-line strikeout of what we need, and they just need to make a decision,” Cornyn said earlier Wednesday, adding that he was “trying to make it easy for them.”

Just one GOP “no” vote on the Senate Judiciary Committee would effectively sink Blanche’s nomination. Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), another member of the panel with concerns about the settlement, said he would follow Cornyn’s lead.

Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), along with Tillis, met late afternoon in Cornyn’s office to hammer out the issues on Blanche, but with no resolution.

“We made it clear that we need the language to move forward with the markup,” Tillis said of the meeting.

The vote could still be rescheduled if Cornyn and Tillis are satisfied, though it might not happen in time to get Blanche across the floor before the recess begins at the end of next week.

Notably, both Sen. Cornyn and Sen. Tillis will be leaving the Senate in January.

After President Trump did not give these RINOs his support for this year’s midterm elections, Sen. Tillis dropped his bid.

Meanwhile, Sen. Cornyn was defeated by Ken Paxton in his primary.

This whole thing appears like a desperate attempt to get back at President Trump for refusing to endorse them.

While speaking to reporters from the Oval Office on Wednesday, President Trump was asked to respond to Sen. Cornyn’s refusal to support Todd Blanche’s nomination until his demands are met.
