The Mirror has more:
One eyewitness said: “Oh no! During the NYC America250 Independence Day fireworks celebration, reports emerged that part of the Brooklyn Bridge appeared to be on fire.
“Emergency crews are responding as officials work to determine the cause and assess the situation.”
Another said: “The fireworks are over, but there appears to be a fire on the Brooklyn Bridge.”
Meanwhile, in Washington, severe weather disrupted celebrations of America’s 250th anniversary of independence.
Storms prompted a roughly two-hour evacuation of the National Mall. President Donald Trump said he will still speak there later Saturday night.
“At first I thought it was supposed to happen but then I was scared it would exploded. I thought the bridge was made of wood so I was scared,” one individual watching the fireworks display said, according to the New York Post.
“There were four at the same time. Some extra fireworks exploded due to the fire,” the individual added.

The New York Post shared further:
“It started as a small fire and got bigger. There was too much black smoke,” added Mohamed Shaban, 31, of Egypt.
All the fires burned out after a minute, a Post reporter observed.
It was not clear how much damage was done. The FDNY and the city DOT did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
