Apparently, it wasn’t enough for in-person protesters and online bullies to drag a grieving family’s name through the mud.
Hundreds of individuals upset over the fact that a jury convicted Karmelo Anthony of murdering 17-year-old Austin Metcalf last year at a high school track meet are now taking their frustrations out on the teen victim’s twin brother.
As Breitbart reported, an online petition started circulating shortly after a fundraiser for Anthony was taken down in response to his conviction:
The petition, which as of this writing still has fewer than 50 signatures, charges Hunter Metcalf with contributing to his brother’s death by “allegedly assaulting” Anthony.
ADVERTISEMENT“As a member of the Black community in America, the ongoing injustices we face daily have reached a tipping point,” the petition reads. “Our community is fed up with the perpetual cycle of violence and discrimination that remains unchecked by a justice system that too often turns a blind eye to our plight. In Frisco, TX, on April 2, 2025, an alarming incident occurred at Kuykendall Stadium where individuals Hunter and Austin Metcalf allegedly assaulted Karmelo Anthony. Austin Metcalf lost his life in the process. This incident is emblematic of a broader issue of racial inequality in the United States and highlights the urgent need for action.
Since then, the number of signatures has grown, but the petition is still far short of its 1,000-signature goal.
And the concept has drawn widespread mockery and derision online:
I filed a complaint yesterday with @Change to have them remove this petition. The more people who go and file a complaint, the sooner it gets taken down.

Arrested for What? Offering comfort at time of death?

Of course, even that’s not as harsh a penalty as some of the pro-murderer protesters believe he deserves:

An online petition might not have any legal authority, but it is a gauge of what some people will ascribe to in our deeply polarized society.
Meanwhile, police have made multiple arrests as protests related to the Anthony verdict have turned controversial and occasionally violent, as Fox News reported:
A man at the center of a viral confrontation outside Karmelo Anthony’s murder trial was arrested outside the courthouse where Anthony was found guilty of murder earlier this week, one of at least two arrests that were made as tensions flared during the racially-charged case.
ADVERTISEMENTBoth individuals were taken into custody shortly after Anthony’s sentence was announced on Tuesday, the Collin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Fox News Digital.
The individual involved in the viral clash, identified as Jerome Winston Parker, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for alleged unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said the charge stems from an alleged incident that took place in the parking lot of the courthouse during “activities related to trial proceedings” three days earlier on June 6.
Parker was subsequently arrested Tuesday and remains in custody on a $1,000 bond.
On Tuesday, he was seen in a face-to-face confrontation with an Austin Metcalf supporter, arguing in support of Anthony in a heated clash outside the courthouse.
And to the bitter end, his mother continues to cite racism, not her son’s actions, as the real problem:
NEW: Karmelo Anthony's parents say "nobody wins" after their son was convicted of murdering Austin Metcalf at a track meet, appear to blame all-white jury.
"My son didn't intend to hurt anyone. My son was defending himself," his mom said.
