Dennis Quaid Reveals Why He’s ‘One Of Thousands’ Fleeing LA For Red-State Relief

California has been shedding residents for years, and its most populous city could soon see another wave of exits after LA mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt has been eliminated from contention to leave just two far-left Democrats on the ballot.

Even some celebrities insulated from much of the crime and filth that has overtaken many LA streets are nonetheless making the decision to ditch their Hollywood homes.

One movie star made the switch to Nashville, and he’s not looking back.

Per Fox News:

It used to be such a great town and the ’90s was nice. And then it’s been kind of going downhill and I feel like people pay these taxes for no services is what it gets down to,” he said at the country music festival CMA Fest on Saturday.

“And then fire happens and it kind of exposes all those things that go on that should be taken care of,” Quaid continued. “So people are — people are angry and half angry, and they’re half kind of feel like giving up, to tell you the truth.”

“I’m just one of thousands who have left, and I don’t know, I hope the town comes back,” he added. “I really do. It used to be such a fantastic town. It was. It was a great community, too. And something’s happened. People need to be inspired there.”

Despite making Nashville his primary residence, Quaid maintained a home in LA’s Brentwood neighborhood. In January 2025, Quaid was forced to evacuate his house during the fires, which destroyed more than 18,000 buildings and claimed 31 lives.

In the era of President Donald Trump, Quaid has maintained a sense of perspective that is becoming quite rare, particularly among the entertainment elite.

His remarks earlier this year drew significant support on social media:

His comments came just a couple of weeks after he became one of the few celebrities to publicly endorse Pratt’s campaign, as the New York Post reported at the time:

“Go, Spencer Pratt,” Quaid said when asked about the LA mayor’s race last week.

Hollywood star Dennis Quaid has come out in support of Spencer Pratt for Los Angeles mayor.

When asked why, Quaid appeared puzzled.

“Why? What are you talking about, why? Just look around, man,” he laughed.

The 72-year-old has been critical of LA Mayor Karen Bass in the past and has called for her to resign. He had to evacuate his home because of the Palisades Fire last year.

Pratt has led his campaign with his support for Palisades Fire victims and his opposition to Karen Bass’ policies

Quaid was seen among the protesters who gathered in Pacific Palisades one year after the devastating fires in the area.

“Mayor Bass had five days’ warning about what could be record Santa Ana winds, and she chose to go to Ghana anyway,” he said earlier this year.

Here’s a clip of the wide-ranging conversation Quaid had a couple of years ago with Jordan Peterson:
