After heralding the #MeToo and “Believe All Women” narratives in recent years, today’s Democratic Party is more than happy to throw its support behind a man facing a series of troubling accusations … including inappropriate behavior around women.
And the disparity between those two messages was too much for one CNN commentator to ignore.
As Breitbart highlighted, Shermichael Singleton issued a scathing indictment of the hypocrisy during a segment discussing Graham Platner’s scandal-plagued US Senate bid in Maine:
I find that a bit ironic. For a long time now Democrats have long argued that what fueled their passions against Trump was a sense of, righteous indignation. They were standing up for justice. They were upholding morality that they said Trump was an affront to. And now what we all realize is that that was all a facade. You have this guy who said he’s going to make a speech, to make a comment or draw a contrast against himself and Susan Collins. He stands up for women. She does not, because she voted for Brett Kavanaugh.

Singleton went on to touch on the accusations that have emerged in recent days against Platner, adding:
It’s very Machiavellian in many ways. And to me, any argument that Democrats have framed against Trump, against Republicans is now null and void. They have revealed themselves to be nothing but hypocrites, nothing but liars.
Platner might have secured a primary victory, but months of messaging highlighting his sordid past could mean the general election is still up for grabs.
Here’s a sampling of how his reputation is taking a beating on X:

Graham Platner just won his primary
Democrats voted for a guy who:
– had a nazi tattoo
– lied repeatedly about his nazi tattoo
– said he would rape people
– sexted with women while married
– bragged about drawing penises in porta potties
– praised islamic terrorists
– said he’s… pic.twitter.com/W8Pg8doEpH— Libs of TikTok (@libsoftiktok) June 10, 2026
But with the backing of a compliant Democratic Party, Platner can afford to remain defiant, as the New York Post recently reported:
“Since this thing started, we have been told time and time again by supposed political geniuses who are professionals and really know what they’re doing, that the campaign was over,” Platner gloated on MS NOW’s “Morning Joe.”
“We’ve been counted out time and time again, and then it doesn’t happen.”
Platner easily clinched the Democratic nod for US Senate from Maine, with 72%, though some 19.5% of Dem voters went with Maine Gov. Janet Mills, who suspended her campaign in April, according to the latest numbers, which include 81% of the vote counted.
The victory came as Maine Democratic primary voters resoundingly shrugged off the litany of scandals against him, including extramarital sexting, his alleged “unsettling” behavior toward past girlfriends, a tattoo on his chest that resembled a Nazi symbol, his incendiary Reddit history, and more.
Here’s a little more commentary, per Sean Spicer:
