Although he might appreciate the gesture, Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt is making it clear he’s not on a mission to collect high-profile endorsements … even from the president.
Amid an almost unprecedented surge in the polls across the far-left city, Pratt’s commonsense message is resonating among voters far beyond LA’s borders.
And President Donald Trump has taken notice, as evidenced by his recent statement of support.
The Hill reported on Trump’s comments and Pratt’s reaction:
“I don’t need anyone’s endorsement but mothers’. That’s who’s getting me elected,” the former reality star told NBC News on Thursday. “My race is a local race. I don’t care what’s going on in the national politics, in other states. I am running for a local position.”
The president spoke favorably about Pratt less than two weeks before the city’s June 2 primary, telling reporters Pratt is a “big MAGA person.”
“I’d like to see him do well. He’s a character,” said Trump.
Pratt, who rose to fame in his role on MTV’s “The Hills,” pushed back on efforts to frame the race through a national political lens.
“This, this right here, what you’re doing, you having this conversation is what’s destroyed local elections,” Pratt told NBC when asked about a potential Trump endorsement, emphasizing that his campaign is centered on local issues. “People don’t care. In L.A., they want to feel safe, they don’t want to step in human poop.”
Pratt’s unique campaign has been the subject of significant social media speculation, particularly in the wake of Trump’s recent comments:
The media is an absolute joke
Spencer Pratt is explaining how his priorities with fixing Los Angeles
After every statement NBC makes it about Trump
No matter what Spencer says, the NBC asks another Trump question. There is nothing he can say that doesn’t prompt another “Trump”… pic.twitter.com/ClSDUboqhc

Spencer gets frustrated because NBC won’t shut up about Trump, he says “This conversation is what’s destroyed local elections”
And he’s right because the media makes everything about tribalism and not about doing what’s best for everyone in a city
No matter how many times Spencer says he’s only focusing on LA, it’s brought back to Trump by the media
We need to restore the Smith-Mundt Act and end mainstream media propaganda

Naturally, incumbent Mayor Karen Bass is seeking to tap into LA’s anti-Trump bias to help her campaign limp across the finish line.
As Fox News reported:
“You have a failed reality TV star who wants to be famous,” she said while speaking with two actresses before appearing to reference President Donald Trump. “We know what it means if you put somebody who is a reality TV star in a seat of power.”
Pratt spent part of Saturday criticizing Raman on X, including attacking her recent campaign advertisements.
In a video posted to Instagram, Raman pointed to a recent poll and urged supporters to vote.
“After millions of dollars of spending against us, we are still here and we are still competitive,” she said.
Here’s a recap of what Trump initially said about Pratt’s campaign:
