Chilling 911 Audio Reveals Kyle Busch Was Coughing Up Blood the Day Before His Sudden Death

Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch died Thursday, May 21, 2026, at age 41 after being hospitalized with what his family described as a severe illness.

Now newly released 911 audio is giving fans a clearer and far more disturbing look at the emergency that unfolded the day before his death.

The audio, first obtained by TMZ Sports, reportedly captures a caller saying Busch was short of breath, overheating, felt like he was going to pass out, and was coughing up blood.

He was reportedly lying on a bathroom floor inside a General Motors/Chevrolet-related training facility in Concord, North Carolina.

MJTruthUltra flagged the newly released audio here:

According to reports, Busch became unresponsive while testing in a Chevrolet racing simulator on Wednesday before being transported to a Charlotte-area hospital.

At the time of the 911 call, however, the caller described him as awake.

TMZ Sports reported the details this way:

TMZ Sports says the newly obtained emergency audio shows a caller asking for an ambulance at a training facility in Concord, North Carolina, late Wednesday afternoon. In the call, Busch was described as short of breath, very hot, feeling like he was about to pass out, and coughing up blood.

The caller told dispatchers Busch was awake and lying on a bathroom floor inside the complex while employees prepared for paramedics to arrive. The caller also asked responders to shut off their sirens as they approached and said he would meet them at a side entrance.

TMZ noted that Busch was later transported to a Charlotte-area hospital after collapsing during the simulator session. The report also tied the emergency to the Chevrolet racing simulator facility where Busch was known to test after joining Richard Childress Racing, but officials have not released an exact cause of death.

That last line is important.

No official cause of death has been released.

That is the boundary on this story, even as the 911 audio raises obvious questions about how quickly this moved from a reported medical emergency to NASCAR losing one of the biggest names in the sport.

NASCAR released its official statement mourning Busch’s death:

As NASCAR reported:

NASCAR says Busch’s death was announced by the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing, and NASCAR after he had been hospitalized with a severe illness. The joint statement described him as a future Hall of Famer and one of the rare talents in the sport.

The official statement said Busch set records across NASCAR’s national series, won championships at the sport’s highest level, and helped foster the next generation of drivers as a Truck Series owner. It also pointed to the deep emotional connection Busch had with race fans through what became known as Rowdy Nation.

NASCAR said Busch is survived by his wife, Samantha, their children, Brexton and Lennix, his parents, his brother Kurt, and the rest of his family. The organization said further updates would be shared as appropriate and asked for privacy for the family during an incredibly difficult time.

Busch won Cup Series titles in 2015 and 2019 and built one of the most impressive resumes in modern NASCAR history.

He was also one of those drivers who made people feel something, whether they cheered him, booed him, or simply respected the talent.

Now the racing world is left with grief, a chilling emergency call, and a very obvious question.

What happened?

Until officials or the family release more information, that question remains unanswered.
