Multiple Red States RUSH to Redraw Districts After Bombshell SCOTUS Ruling

After yesterday’s blockbuster Supreme Court ruling, several red states have announced plans to re-draw Congressional maps.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court issued a much-anticipated decision that effectively outlaws racial gerrymandering.

We covered that ruling in more detail here:

As a result of this massive ruling, SCOTUS has given many states the green-light to draw up new, lawful maps that do not include race as a factor.

And, so far, three red states in the South have declared plans to do just that!

First, you have Louisiana, which was the state at the heart of yesterday’s Supreme Court case.

For years, Democrats had been trying to force Louisiana into creating a second, black-majority district.

But, after yesterday’s SCOTUS ruling, that proposed map has been tossed out!

In response to the decision, Gov. Jeff Landry has postponed the state’s House primaries in order to allow for time to create a new, fair Congressional map before midterms.

LANDRY: “Allowing elections to proceed under an unconstitutional map would undermine the integrity of our system and violate the rights of our voters.”

“This executive order ensures we uphold the rule of law while giving the Legislature the time it needs to pass a fair and lawful congressional map.”

Instead of kicking off this week, Louisiana’s congressional primaries will likely take place in July.

AP News reported further:

Louisiana suspended its congressional primaries Thursday as early voting was about to get underway, while pressure mounted on Republican officials in other states to redraw their U.S. House maps in light of a Supreme Court ruling that significantly weakened the Voting Rights Act.

Early voting had been scheduled to begin Saturday for Louisiana’s May 16 primaries. But Republican Gov. Jeff Landry issued an executive order postponing the U.S. House primary in response to a ruling Wednesday by the court that struck down a majority Black congressional district.

“Allowing elections to proceed under an unconstitutional map would undermine the integrity of our system and violate the rights of our voters,” Landry stated. “This executive order ensures we uphold the rule of law while giving the Legislature the time it needs to pass a fair and lawful congressional map.”

The Republican-controlled secretary of state’s office, which declared an electoral emergency allowing for Landry’s order, said it would post notices at early voting sites alerting the public about the suspended congressional primary. All other races on the ballot will proceed as scheduled.

The governor’s order postponed the congressional primary until either July 15 or a date to be set by the Legislature. The state’s Republican House and Senate leaders said they are prepared to pass new congressional voting districts — and set a new election date — before their regular session ends in a month.

The second state that plans to redistrict before midterms is Tennessee.

In a post on Truth Social, President Trump said that Gov. Bill Lee plans to “correct the unconstitutional flaw” in the state’s Congressional maps pronto.

I had a very good conversation with Governor Bill Lee, of Tennessee, this morning, wherein he stated that he would work hard to correct the unconstitutional flaw in the Congressional Maps of the Great State of Tennessee. Likewise, all of the other Political Representatives of Tennessee have promised to do so. This should give us one extra seat, and help Save our Country from the Radical Left Democrats, and their Country destroying Policies of High Tax, Open Borders, Transgender Mutilization, Defunding the Police, ICE, and Border Patrol, No Voter ID, Soft on Crime, and so much more. Thank you Governor Lee — PUSH HARD! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Lastly, Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen is also moving to expedite the state’s ongoing redistricting push.

Allen shared a press release on X:

Wes Allen, Alabama’s Secretary of State, is requesting that the nation’s highest court expedite consideration of Alabama’s redistricting case in the aftermath of its decision in Louisiana v. Callais.

“As the appellant in Alabama’s redistricting case, I have taken the legal measures necessary, in cooperation with Alabama’s Attorney General Steve Marshall to ask the US Supreme Court to take quick and decisive action which will allow Alabama to pursue congressional maps that reflect the will of the people,” Allen said. “It is my hope that our right as Alabamians to draw districts will be swiftly restored and that the days of court appointed mapmakers will be behind us.”

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey backed the move in a statement on X:

With one of the most important midterm elections of our lifetime only months away, there’s no time to waste…

Every other state with unconstitutional, race-based districts needs to get on-board and fix their maps ASAP!
