It’s a sad sign of the times, but political violence (and violent rhetoric) continues to rise amid deep divisions between Americans.
While some examples of troubling remarks and behavior can be found across the ideological spectrum, the far-left has become a hotbed of threats and actions that are completely incompatible with the American way of life.
And when one particularly vicious voice, Hasan Piker, openly advocated for the homicide of US Sen. Rick Scott, the Florida Republican called out the Democratic Party’s lurch to the left as a primary cause.
Per the New York Post:
During a recent livestream, Piker declared that “if you cared about Medicare fraud or Medicaid fraud, you would kill Rick Scott.”
Scott has since pushed for Yale University to lose funding for allowing Piker to speak at an event.
“He wants me killed. He wants every capitalist murdered,” Scott complained matter-of-factly on “Fox News Sunday.” “He said that we deserve 9/11. He’s clearly antisemitic. Democrats are campaigning with this guy.”
“The Democrat Party supports this stuff,” he added. “Yale, if they want to go support somebody that wants to be a capitalist murdered in this country, right, so I don’t want them to get any federal funding. I mean, it’s pretty simple to me. They shouldn’t be doing this.”
Piker’s remarks have earned widespread scorn on social media, though more than a few extremists are proud supporters of his viewpoints:
Democrat spokesperson Hasan Piker goes off on a Vietnamese refugee who escaped communism:
"Shut the fuck up you stupid fucking idiotic old lady."
"Suck my dick old lady."
"Fuck this south Vietnamese motherfucking…psychotic fucking refugee!"

To be fair, some Democrats (OK, pretty much just Sen. John Fetterman) have also condemned Piker’s rhetoric:
CNN: Do you think your party has a problem with antisemitism?
FETTERMAN: "Definitely…they're just palling around someone like Hasan Piker…he absolutely is proud to cheer for Hamas, loves Hamas. I mean, you know, Democrats are proud to stand with him and campaign with him." pic.twitter.com/3EIQacAhPJ

But as Fox News reported, the usual lefties like Ivy League colleges are still full of support for Piker:
Piker, who has come under fire for his previous comments that “America deserved 9/11″and for excusing sexual violence committed on Oct. 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a surprise attack against Israel, is set to appear at the Yale Political Union for an event dubbed “Resolved: End the American Empire” Tuesday.
“This is WILD,” Scott said on X. “I spoke at the Yale Political Union last year on why we need to buy made in America products. Now, they are hosting a guy who said I should be killed.”
“Yale receives billions from the federal government — President Trump and Congress need to IMMEDIATELY revoke it,” he continued. “An elite private university that hosts an antisemite who says a Senator should be killed, capitalists should be killed, and the U.S. deserved 9/11, shouldn’t get ONE CENT from taxpayers.”
Here’s some additional coverage of Scott’s response:
