This is incredibly sad.

Eight kids are now dead after a nightmarish mass shooting across the city of Shreveport, Louisiana.

Authorities say the horrific murder spree began as a domestic dispute that escalated, with the shooter targeting his own kids at three different homes.

Two adults, including a woman assumed to be in a relationship with the gunman, were also shot and survived.

Some of the children were just babies, with the young victims confirmed to be aged one to 14.

The New York Post has more details on the terrible incident:

Eight children, including a baby, have been killed in a mass shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, after a crazed gunman opened fire in three different homes in the city.

A total of 10 people were shot, eight of them fatally, with the victims’ ages ranging from 1 to 14, following the horrific scenes at around 6 a.m. Sunday, according to police.

Some of the victims were “descendants” of the gunman, Shreveport Police Department spokesperson Christopher Bordelon told a news briefing.

There were audible gasps and the sounds of sobbing as Bordelon revealed the ages of the deceased.

The two survivors were both described as adult women who had been shot in the head, with one suffering from life-threatening injuries.

One of the women is believed to have been in a relationship with the suspect, according to Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith.

Following the shooting, the gunman carjacked a vehicle and tried to escape, before being shot dead by cops in neighboring Bossier City following a police chase, according to authorities.

People could be heard crying as Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith revealed the ages of the eight young victims during a press conference.

The perpetrator was killed by police after he carjacked a car, was chased by them, and they shot him. He was the father of at least some of the deceased and the only person police believe to have shot the children.

It’s “a rather extensive crime scene spanning between two residences” and a third residence, according to Chief Wayne Smith of the Shreveport Police Department.

Pray for all the victims and their families.

What a truly terrible nightmare.

The gunman and victims’ identities have not yet been released to the public.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, who is from Louisiana, shared his condolences for the families of the victims on X:

The Shreveport community is mourning and working through today’s senseless tragedy. Please join us in praying especially for the families of the victims and all the first responders involved.

I just spoke with @ShreveportMayor
Tom Arceneaux about the situation and the multiple law enforcement agencies currently engaged in the investigation to pledge any assistance we can possibly provide.

What apparently began as a domestic dispute this morning ended in a mass shooting with ten people shot—including eight children, ages 1 to 14, who all lost their lives.

Local officials are saying it is one of the worst tragedies they have ever seen. God be with the community through this terrible time.

Please pray for all involved.
