Two relatives of the Iranian General who was targeted — and decisively taken out — by President Trump back in 2020 outside Baghdad International Airport… were just arrested.
But here’s the kicker. They were arrested by federal ICE Agents in Los Angeles!
Here’s what we know.
The niece of deceased Iranian General Qasem Soleimani, and her daughter, were both living it up in sunny California until last Friday.
All the while… bashing the United States and talking smack about the US military — CELEBRATING the deaths of our troops — while enjoying all the perks of being allowed to live in America.
That is, until Marco Rubio switched up the game.
This morning, Secretary of State Rubio announced that he had removed the protections previously granted to Soleimani’s niece and daughter, paving the way for their arrest:
Until recently, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were green card holders living lavishly in the United States.
Afshar is the niece of deceased Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani. She is also an outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime who celebrated attacks on…

Here’s the full text of the Secretary’s post from today, in case the post isn’t fully visible:
Until recently, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were green card holders living lavishly in the United States.
Afshar is the niece of deceased Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani. She is also an outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime who celebrated attacks on Americans and referred to our country as the “Great Satan.”
This week, I terminated both Afshar and her daughter’s legal status and they are now in ICE custody, pending removal from the United States.
The Trump Administration will not allow our country to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes.
Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were subsequently picked up by ICE agents last Friday in LA.
The two allegedly had quite an online presence (before the accounts were deleted).
And the Department of Homeland Security claims the mother, at least, was an ardent and outspoken supporter of the IRGC — previously led by Soleimani — which is now a federally designated terror organization.
Both initially made their way to the US back in 2015, as reported by the New York Post:
The niece of slain Iranian mastermind Gen. Qasem Soleimani, who showcased her luxe LA lifestyle on Instagram while bashing the US as the “Great Satan,” was arrested along with her daughter by ICE agents, the State Department announced Saturday.
Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, who celebrated attacks on US soldiers and military bases in social media posts, and her daughter Sarinasadat Hosseiny, were nabbed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Friday and had their green cards revoked over ties to the Iranian regime.
“While living in the United States, she promoted Iranian regime propaganda, celebrated attacks against American soldiers and military facilities in the Middle East, praised the new Iranian Supreme Leader, denounced America as the “Great Satan,’ and voiced her unflinching support for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, a designated terror organization,” a State Department letter confirming the arrests read.
Afshar entered the US in 2015 on a tourist visa, was granted asylum in 2019 — before securing a green card in 2021 from the Biden administration.
Hosseniy also entered the US in 2015 on a student visa and became a green card holder in 2023.
ADVERTISEMENTAfshar’s husband, who was not named by the State Department, is also now barred from entering the United States.
Qasem Soleimani, who led the notorious Iranian Revolutionary Guard, was killed in a drone strike ordered by President Trump in Iraq in 2020 near the Baghdad International Airport in Iraq.
While most of the online discussion has focused on whether the two are even in the good graces of the Soleimani family, which I’ll admit a little research proves is debatable.
But blood runs thick.
The fact that we have two of Gen. Soleimani’s relatives openly bashing the US and living a high-profile life in Los Angeles with known Iranian threats still ongoing against President Trump — that’s a problem.
But as I said, whether or not the two posed any direct terror threat to the US can legitimately be debated. (Though personally, I see no reason to take any chances.)
Obviously, plenty of folks in the Middle East who want an end to the Iranian terror state as we know it, and are sick of the elite Iranian regime in general, are cheering the arrest:

Meanwhile, others are claiming that neither the niece nor her daughter have done anything wrong.
Plenty of people are pointing out that she was simply living in freedom as a fashion designer, and hadn’t done anything to deserve getting the boot other than sharing that infamous last name.
Green card revoked? Arrested? Likely to be deported???
That’s all way overboard for someone who hadn’t done anything wrong, they argue.
I’ll use this comment from X as a good example, offered up as a direct response to Marco Rubio’s announcement:
Not at all. No one can provide a shred of evidence of this woman committing a crime. Her crime was being related to someone and not hating the IRGC. Not all American hate the IRGC bro https://t.co/MHhS0hh08g

But here’s the issue.
Why was she here? How did she and her daughter get protected status to remain in the US to begin with?
And does the story, which she used to GAIN that prolonged protected access to the United States… add up?
Nope.
Check this out — a key detail that is getting left out of most of the media reports, which made it into this article from Fox News:
Hamideh Soleimani Afshar — identified as Soleimani’s niece — and her daughter were arrested and are now being held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to a Saturday announcement from the State Department.
The Trump administration says Afshar has been a supporter of Iran’s “totalitarian, terrorist” regime.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, ICE officers arrested Afshar and her daughter on Friday in Los Angeles.
“In July 2025, she filed a naturalization application where she disclosed, she traveled to Iran at least four times since being issued a green card. Her trips to Iran illustrate her asylum claims were fraudulent,” a DHS spokesperson told Fox News.
“It is a privilege to be granted green card to live in the United States of America,” the spokesperson added. “If we have reason to believe a green card holder poses a threat to the U.S., the green card will be revoked.” (Emphasis added.)

Is it an issue that the two are close relatives to an Iranian IRGC Commander previously obliterated by the US military on President Trump’s orders?
Yes.
Is it an issue that they are openly bashing the United States and our military while enjoying the protections of being granted asylum to live and work here?
Yes.
Both of those are issues, but I’ll be generous and call them debatable issues.
Here’s what is not debatable.
If you come to the US on a tourist and student visa (as they did), and you stay after applying for asylum under the pretense that YOU WOULD BE IN DANGER by returning to your home country…
And then you return to your home country FOUR TIMES in the subsequent years?
You lied.
That means Hamideh Soleimani and her daughter both misrepresented themselves to gain asylum, lied to federal agents in the process, and committed — drum roll — a crime.
Probably several crimes, if we were to take the time to list them all out.
And once again, you can debate all day long about the moral ‘right’ of a person to take this stance or that stance.
You can argue where the line should be on family terror connections in regards to immigration, etc.
But once you enter this country illegally — which would include LYING to the US authorities about why you are coming and why you should be allowed to stay, and work, and enjoy all the blessings of the United States of America — that’s a crime.
Thanks to Sec. of State Rubio, the Green Cards were revoked, ICE notified, and the two are now in custody of federal authorities.
I love the smell of law and order in the morning.
