Florida Man Arrested After Attempting to Hijack Plane

A Florida man was arrested after crashing a Mustang through a secured gate, driving onto an active runway, and attempting to hijack a plane.

On Wednesday, Bryan J. Parker, 59, was arrested on felony charges for hijacking an aircraft, burglary, and trespassing.

According to an arrest report, “Parker admitted he drove his leased Ford Mustang GT through a secured gate at the airport, which caused damage to his vehicle.”

“Parker then drove on the runway by the planes before exiting his vehicle and entering one or two unoccupied planes,” added the report.

Per Newsweek:

A Florida man is in custody after crashing his car through a secured gate at Daytona Beach International Airport on Wednesday afternoon, racing onto an active airfield, and attempting to forcibly board a running airplane in an attempt to fly to his sister’s house in Sanibel Island, according to an arrest report obtained by Newsweek.

Deputies identified the suspect as 58‑year‑old Bryan J. Parker of Holly Hill, who they say was highly intoxicated at the time of the incident.

The incident began around 4:23 p.m. local time Wednesday afternoon when a blue Ford Mustang “drove through a gate at the international terminal” and continued directly onto the airfield, a post on X from the Volusia Sheriff’s Office (VSO) said.

“Parker admitted he drove his leased Ford Mustang GT through a secured gate at the airport, which caused damage to his vehicle,” an arrest report obtained by Newsweek said. “Parker then drove on the runway by the planes before exiting his vehicle and entering one or two unoccupied planes. He then ran to a plane, which was running and tried to open the door.”

WESH reported that Parker told deputies who responded to the scene that he went to an AA meeting and soon after did cocaine, drank, and smoked marijuana:

Body-worn camera video released Thursday shows the arrest of a man the Volusia Sheriff’s Office says rammed a gate and entered airport property.

It happened Wednesday afternoon after the man drove through a gate at Daytona Beach International Airport and onto the airfield, attempting to enter multiple airplanes, VSO said.

According to VSO, the driver, later identified as 58-year-old Bryan Parker of Holly Hill, was “highly intoxicated.”

In the video of the arrest, Parker says he doesn’t remember.

“I went to an AA meeting … the next thing I know, I’m doing cocaine, drinking and smoking pot,” Parker says to the deputy.

“So you were doing all kinds of drugs and ran through a gate?” the deputy asks.

“Yeah and I crashed my car,” Parker says.
