USA Today provided an update from FBI Director Kash Patel:

Parts of the Kansas City International Airport in Kansas City, Missouri were evacuated March 8 as authorities investigated a potential threat, according to the airport.

Kansas City Aviation Department spokesperson Jackson Overstreet said in an email to USA TODAY that sections of the terminal were evacuated as a “precaution.”

“Airport Police are working with the FBI to substantiate any potential threat,” Overstreet said.

FBI Director Kash Patel said in a post on X that the threat “was reviewed and determined not to be credible.”

Airport officials told USA TODAY the threat was received around 11:15 a.m. CT. Several hours later, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said in a post on X that the security incident “is now clear and normal operations are resuming.” Video posted to social media by Krista Tatschl of KMBC-TV shows passengers returning to the terminal from the tarmac.

Photos of the scene published by Kansas City television station KCTV show travelers on the tarmac. Eyewitnesses told the station that agents opened the gates onto the tarmac and advised passengers to line up between Terminal A and Terminal B around 12:05 p.m. CT.
