UPDATE: Explosives Thrown at NYC Anti-Islam Protest Confirmed as LIVE Bombs, Terrorists Now in Federal Custody

On Saturday, two Muslim men were arrested after carrying out a terror attack at an anti-Islam protest outside Gracie Mansion in New York City.

They shouted, “Allahu Akbar!” and threw two homemade bombs at the demonstrators, who were led by conservative activist Jake Lang.

At the time of our original report, it wasn’t known what exactly the explosive devices were.

Some people said they were homemade nail bombs, and others said it was smoke bombs or some kind of hoax bombs just meant to scare people.

But now, we just got confirmation that the bombs were live “improvised explosives” that, by the grace of God, failed to detonate.

New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said that NYPD Bomb Squad analysis determined the bombs were real.

The NYPD Bomb Squad has conducted a preliminary analysis of a device that was ignited and deployed at a protest yesterday and has determined that it is not a hoax device or a smoke bomb. It is, in fact, an improvised explosive device that could have caused serious injury or death.

Further analysis will be conducted, including on a second device.

Emir Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi were arrested on scene yesterday and are in custody in connection with this matter. The NYPD is working on this investigation with our partners at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York and the FBI through our Joint Terrorism Task Force.

I want to again thank the brave members of the NYPD who ran towards the danger without hesitation and quickly apprehended the suspects.

Furthermore, the bombs were packed with Triacetone Triperoxide, or TATP, which is a highly volatile explosive used internationally by terrorists.

The two Muslim terrorists told police that they threw the bombs because they felt their religion was being insulted.

The New York Post reported:

The two pro-Muslim fanatics – Ibraham Kayumi, 19, and Emir Balat, 18 – both self-radicalized in recent years and traveled to Turkey and other terror-training hot spots, law enforcement sources close to the case told The Post.

Balat spent more than three months in Istanbul last year, while Ibrahim flew to Istanbul and Saudi Arabia in 2024, and made a trip to Melbourne, Australia in 2019, they said.

Both admitted to cops after getting busted at a rowdy demonstration outside the mayor’s residence on Saturday that they also watch ISIS videos and tossed the bomb at right-wing agitators because they felt they insulted their religion, the sources said.

The homemade device consisted of sports drink bottles filled with triacetone triperoxide, or TATP, a substance favored by terrorists and known as “Mother of Satan” — which is so volatile that it typically doesn’t require a fuse to go off, they said.

The same type of bomb was used in high-profile terror attacks in France and the UK over more than a decade.

There you have it. It doesn’t get any clearer than that!

This was a serious Islamic terror attack targeting Americans protesting the spread of Islam in our nation.

But, of course, that doesn’t fit the mainstream media narrative.

So, the legacy media is largely misrepresenting the story.

For instance, the New York Times is calling the bombs “smoking jars of metal and fuses.”

You truly can’t make this up.

Some media outlets are even trying to make it seem like the attack targeted Mayor Mamdani, since it took place outside of his residence.

Laura Loomer pointed out:

For his part, Mayor Mamdani addressed the Islamic terror attack as a disturbing act of “violence.”

In his response, he refused to mention the real motivation behind the attack (Islam) or the fact that it was carried out by Muslim men.

Instead, he went after “white supremacy.”

Yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang organized a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism. Such hate has no place in New York City. It is an affront to our city’s values and the unity that defines who we are.

What followed was even more disturbing. Violence at a protest is never acceptable. The attempt to use an explosive device and hurt others is not only criminal, it is reprehensible and the antithesis of who we are.

I want to thank the brave men and women of the NYPD who acted quickly to keep New Yorkers safe. Our officers ran toward danger without hesitation, demonstrating once again the courage and dedication it takes to protect this city every single day.

My administration is closely monitoring the situation and I remain in close contact with our Police Commissioner.

On that tragic day in 2001, who would have imagined that there would be New York politicians actually defending Islamic terrorism a couple decades later?

It’s horrible.

But, there is some good news.

The two Muslim terrorists — Amir Balat and Ibrahim Nikk — have been taken into federal custody.

This means that the leftist New York justice system will not be able to set them free, back onto the streets to bomb more American citizens.
