Dr. Oz made a big announcement today: taxpayer-funding for transgender experiments on children is over.
During an HHS press conference, Dr. Oz announced a proposal to pull federal funds from hospitals that give transgender surgeries and other so-called ‘gender-affirming’ care to minors.

DR. OZ: “TAXPAYERS WILL NEVER AGAIN HAVE TO PAY FOR TRANSGENDER EXPERIMENTS ON CHILDREN”
The CMS Administrator, Dr. Mehmet Oz, is blasting “sex-rejecting procedures” on youth as a predatory ideology that violates hospital safety standards and hurts kids with irreversible harm.
He is citing a 300+ page white paper commissioned by the Sec. RFK Jr.
“American taxpayers should not have to foot the bill for ideologically driven experiments in our nation’s youth.
We’re announcing a notice of proposed rulemaking that ends taxpayer funding of sex-rejecting procedures for children in Medicaid and CHIP, full stop.”
This NPRM would yank federal dollars for these interventions on minors, covering over half of U.S. kids via Medicaid/CHIP, no more using public funds to “hurt these children” with junk science, per Oz.
This is long overdue.
Why should our tax dollars be used to fund something as downright evil as mutilating children?
NPR has more details on exactly what the new proposal entails:
The ban takes the form of two new proposed rules from Medicaid and Medicare. The first prohibits doctors and hospitals from receiving federal Medicaid reimbursement for gender-affirming care provided to transgender patients younger than age 18. Medicaid is the health care program that covers low-income Americans.
The second rule blocks all Medicaid and Medicare funding for any services at hospitals that provide pediatric gender-affirming care. Virtually every hospital in the country takes Medicare, which covers older Americans and the disabled. Because hospitals rely on Medicare, the rule would have a wide-ranging effect.
Supporters and opponents of transgender rights agree that, taken together, the forthcoming hospital rules could make access to pediatric gender-affirming care across the country extremely difficult, if not impossible.
The care is already banned in 27 states. The proposed rules will be entered into the Federal Register on Friday and that starts a 60-day comment period. The rules would not take effect immediately.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. also discussed the move at today’s press conference.
