The moment was caught on video.

Photos are also circulating of a clearer look of the suspect although I am reporting this only because I also want to give you a word of caution: Many times in these situations a photo will trend online only to later be confirmed as not accurate.

So please approach these with caution until confirmed real.

If the photo is authentic, many are saying he looks Muslim:

This is an upscaled image of the photo, which I would also caution you about because we have seen upscaling previously produce unreliable results:

For what it’s worth, I asked Grok if this was indeed an authentic photo of the shooter from today, and Grok said yes:

Yes, the photo appears to be authentic and depicts the suspect from today’s shooting incident near the White House. It was posted on X around 9:04 PM GMT (4:04 PM EST) by @AutismCapital, who described it as an “upscaled photo of the suspect taken into custody in the Washington DC shootings.” The image shows a bearded, overweight man strapped shirtless to a stretcher, consistent with eyewitness accounts and official descriptions of the suspect being wounded in the exchange and loaded into an ambulance for transport to a hospital.Multiple major news outlets (CNN, Fox News, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Politico, NPR, The Guardian, and USA Today) confirmed the shooting occurred today, November 26, 2025, around 2:18 PM ET near the Farragut West Metro station, just blocks from the White House.

Authorities described it as a “targeted” attack on two West Virginia National Guard members (one man and one woman, both armed and on duty), with the lone suspect approaching from around a corner and opening fire. The victims were rushed to hospitals in critical condition, while the suspect was shot (possibly by return fire from the Guardsmen or others) and is hospitalized in stable condition. No motive has been released, and the FBI is leading the investigation. The photo’s details align with these reports, including the suspect’s physical description and the ambulance loading scene. While the post notes it’s “upscaled” (likely enhanced for clarity using AI or software, a common practice for low-res leaked images), there’s no evidence of fabrication—it’s circulating widely on X with replies focusing on the event rather than disputing its legitimacy.
