Tucker Carlson: “There Is NO Doubt Trump Shooter Thomas Crooks Was Ripe For Recruitment From Someone”

Tucker Carlson recently released a detailed investigation on Trump shooter Thomas Crooks online presence.

Carlson in the video reveals videos from Crook’s Google Drive and various comments he made on his YouTube account.

He also revealed Crook’s googled Trump’s name over 700 times before the shooting and also made searches on Jack Ruby, craziest chemical reactions, best places for mass shootings, firing an AR-15 as fast as possible and many more violent searches.

At around the 12 minute mark of his investigation Tucker noted Crooks was ripe for recruitment from someone.

The FBI on Thursday clapped back at conservative pundit Tucker Carlson after he claimed the agency lied about Thomas Matthew Crooks, the man who attempted to assassinate President Trump in Pennsylvania in 2024.

Ahead of a “story tomorrow,” Carlson wrote in a Thursday post on the social platform X, “The FBI told us Thomas Crooks tried to kill Donald Trump last summer but somehow had no online footprint. The FBI lied, and we can prove it because we have his posts. The question is why?”

The FBI’s “rapid response” X account shared the post with the caption: “This FBI has never said Thomas Crooks had no online footprint. Ever.”

Launched on Thursday, the FBI’s new X handle was set up to combat “an avalanche of lies, smears, and falsehoods from the fake news and others seeking to undermine our work and national security,” the account‘s first post reads.

Crooks fired into a crowd at a rally for Trump while on the campaign trail in Butler, Pa., on July 13, 2024. One rallygoer was killed, while another bullet grazed Trump’s ear. Secret Service agents shot and killed Crooks.

Since the shooting, little is known about Crooks’s motive, having not left any manifesto or online presence. Online searches for “major depressive disorder” were found by The New York Times via a public records request, along with the use of encrypted connection to hide his online footprint. He also viewed websites like NBC News and the Trump campaign site.

In July 2025, six Secret Service agents were suspended in connection with the assassination attempt.

More than a year after Thomas Crooks opened fire on Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, one of the most influential figures in conservative media says Trump’s hand-picked Justice Department leaders are concealing important information about how the 20-year-old would-be assassin got within a rifle’s distance of a former president — and what motivated him to do so.

In an episode of his eponymous podcast released on Friday, Carlson took aim at current FBI Director Kash Patel, his predecessor Christopher Wray, and Patel deputy (and ex-Secret Service agent) Dan Bongino, each of whom he accuses of concealing key facts about Crooks and the security failures that led to him coming within “a quarter-inch” of making what would’ve been a fatal head-shot on Trump.

He also broadly impugned the Department of Justice, headed by Attorney General Pam Bondi, which has oversight over the FBI.

“Thomas Crooks came within a quarter inch of destroying this country, and yet, a year and a half later, we still know almost nothing about him or why he did it. That’s because, for some reason, the FBI, even the current FBI, doesn’t want us to know,” Carlson said.

The former Fox News host continued, telling viewers that the Justice Department and FBI “have hidden from the public what they know” about the would-be assassin and stating that his report would “reveal details of Crooks’ social media accounts” while asking why the FBI was keeping his views a secret.
