MTG Says The Trump Administration Is “Gaslighting” The American People

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has once again voiced her concerns with the Trump administration.

The lawmaker from Georgia recent told Sean Spicer who hosts the Eponymous Show, that the Trump administration is gaslighting the American people that prices have come down.

Rep. Greene did note that the Trump admin has lowered inflation but shared the constant reports within the Trump admin that prices are down is infuriating the American people because it does not reflect the current reality for most Americans.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said the Trump administration is “infuriating people” by “gaslighting” them on affordability, an issue the president has sought to minimize during his second term.

“President Trump and his administration does deserve a lot of credit for lowering inflation and holding it steady,” Greene told host Sean Spicer on Thursday’s episode of his eponymous show. “But that doesn’t bring prices down.”

“So gaslighting the people and trying to tell them prices have come down is not helping,” she continued. “It’s actually infuriating people, because people know what they’re paying at the grocery store, they know what they’re paying for their kids’ clothes and school supplies, they know what they’re paying for their electricity bills.”

The Georgia Republican has repeatedly broken with the Trump administration in the past several months. After Republicans lost elections in several states last week, Greene insisted online and in media appearances that affordability was “a problem” voters were noticing.

“Overall, the cost of living is a problem, and I’ve been talking about this for months,” Greene told NBC News. “The economy is extremely important, and I think that was a significant factor in the elections.”

Her stances have led to criticism from Trump, who said earlier this week that Greene had “lost her way.” Trump has been defensive about voters’ concerns over affordability. Political strategists have largely agreed that focusing on affordability won several Democrats their elections this year.

Bureau of Labor Statistics data showed that prices have increased across several categories of goods and services compared to last year, with energy and food prices rising even as the cost of gasoline fell.

Trump has dismissed affordability concerns, saying Democrats’ messaging on the issue during this year’s elections was “a con job.”

NBC News reported President Trump recently stated that Rep. Greene has “lost her way”:

President Donald Trump on Monday said that MAGA-aligned Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., had “lost her way” with her criticism of the administration’s focus on foreign policy.

“I don’t know what happened to Marjorie. She’s a nice woman, but I don’t know what happened. She’s lost her way, I think,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.

“But I have to view the presidency as a worldwide situation, not locally. I mean, we could have a world that’s on fire, where wars come to our shores very easily, if you had a bad president,” he added.

Asked about Trump’s comments, Greene said in a statement: “I haven’t lost my way. I’m 100% America first and only!”

Greene chastised the White House in a social media post Monday over the bilateral meeting with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, a former jihadist, that was expected to center on a U.S.-led coalition to defeat the Islamic State militant group, two officials previously told NBC News.

“I pray the persecution ends, not only in Syria, but all around the world,” Greene wrote on X. “However, I would really like to see nonstop meetings at the WH on domestic policy not foreign policy and foreign country’s leaders.”
